Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

I won't deny there is more excitement with Harris then Biden, but that's not saying much.

One problem: The rally was Kamala Harris' rally in Arizona.

"Trump has "ordered" his team to literally *cover up* entire levels of venues he's unable to fill with black cloths - to make it appear as if there aren't thousands of empty seats."

Harris acknowledges your concern and here's her response. The link starts at the point in her rally when she speaks directly to concerns about the high cost of things:

A "libertarian" asked what has the Biden-harris admin done to decrease prices. Government intervention? How ironic. From an a la carte libertarian? An a la carte peacenik? The supreme economist? What a joke.

When you go to your doctor, without noticing that your guns are bigger than rambo's, he reads off his chart to say, "your bmi is 32. We need to work on your weight". We have a problem. Bmi is conventionally used to assess obesity. But central deposit of fat is most important. Sure, your bmi is a good indicator...but it doesn't tell the whole story. Like looking at prices in isolation to judge the health of our economy like this big brain economist there. If that is the case...

"Hey Google, what is the inflation rate since 1950".
"Based on the Minnesota feds inflation calculator that uses recorded cpi, inflation since 1950 is 1307%."

That big brain economist you replied to would say, "holy shirt, our economy is in terrible shape". But of course, his conspiratorial hamster in that big brain would start dashing and question the bias and legitimacy of an algorithm.

Yes since 2020, inflation spiked, give or take, a cumulative 21%. But wages kept pace at, give or take, a cumulative 23%. Macroeconomically, Americans didn't lose purchasing power. Gdp had not declined. And it's generally accepted now that that inflation spike was in large part due to a supply disruption (economy opening suddenly causing slow supply shift, bottlenecks from China, Russian invasion that shocked oil supply, etc). And you can even add price gouging (yeah record profits?) though some economists may disagree. Sure, quantitative easing played some part, but not quite the significance of supply disruption. So because inflation was a market problem, this libertarian asks what can the government do?!?!? Oxymoron much?

To be clear, wage vs inflation isn't the be all indicator. Millions of Americans fall under that pacing. There are other indicators far beyond my comprehension. Just don't pretend when it's an a la carte style to pick some arbitrary factor and conclude something to fit that warped narrative. Much like how obama was roasted on low wage increased because the right's focus on unemployment fell short once that marker reached closer to full employment. And even before that, oh it's not full employment because folks aren't looking for jobs, thus aren't part of the equation.

Give me a break. There isnt a statute of limitations on hypocrisy.

Well, we have plenty of evidence of the media coordinating and pushing Harris campaign narratives, Youguv deleted their reference to Harris being the most liberal Senator, the media claiming Harris was never the border czar eventhough they called her that multiple times, the AP putting out an article recently defending politicians not doing interviews, etc.

The majority or the excitement isn't organic.

That same media that told us Biden was fine:

Organic or not or a mix thereof.. doesn't really matter much in the end does it? Every indication is that the race is now 50-50, and that's what matters.. I didn't expect it to happen like this with Kamala either, but there's clearly a lot of energy behind them right now. Just have to keep pushing forward with it.

Obviously things can change and that very well may happen.. but I can see the scenario where Kamala basically rides this into election day and if she can do that, she almost certainly wins.

New polling out this morning. Trend lines continue to show increasing support for Harris.

“Vice President Kamala Harris leads former President Donald J. Trump in three crucial battleground states, according to new surveys by The New York Times and Siena College, the latest indication of a dramatic reversal in standing for Democrats after President Biden’s departure from the presidential race remade it.

Ms. Harris is ahead of Mr. Trump by four percentage points in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, 50 percent to 46 percent among likely voters in each state. The surveys were conducted from Aug. 5 to 9.”

This should be a gift link:

I've got a feeling it's actually even worse for Cheato & Company. The polls all along haven't seemed to reflect the news about women, minorities, suburban voters, etc who all despise Cheato.
I think the Harris/Walz ticket has energized those voters whom pollsters can actually reach. The ones with home landlines who fill out surveys. Like an iceberg, what we've been seeing of the loathing for Cheato is only the tip of a much larger phenomenon.

I hope so but Trump outperformed polling in his two election results. I like the way things are trending though. So far at least.

Not sure about that old friend.....while I have the utmost respect for those R's that disavow Trump, there are way, way too many idiotic cultists in the R party.....IMO there will be another Trump type they will find to cling to.....

I wish that were not the case and hope I'm wrong....
Trump has charisma. I give him that. No other has it. We will be fine once he's an afterthought

The party who jokes about Vance forking a couch is now offended about Kamala being Willie Brown's mattress?
It continues a long line of Republican talking points about women sleeping their way to the top.

The Democrats didn’t come up with the couch jokes. It was a random guy on Twitter.

And the couch joke is just a harmless bit of funny. Even if he did it nobody cares, teenaged boys do silly things all the time.

MAGA slurs are weird and mean. Nothing funny about them.

Harris picks up an endorsement from Ventura and MAGA promptly attacks, lol.

No doubt, but to think he is the only one that does is a bit naive IMO.....those cultists are going to be looking for another leader.....

No one wants to be known as couch forker or have random people yelling it at you lol.. there's some harm there but he brought it upon himself so

Maybe I shouldn't be but I'm surprised he endorsed her.

It's almost like you've forgotten how the left turned Mueller into a mythical creature who would rid the world of Trump. Very weird. Almost cult like.
i bet you can't show me people literally calling Mueller Jesus. i bet you can't show me people flying mueller flags from their trucks. i bet you can't show me someone getting a Mueller tattoo on their forehead. i bet you can't show me a woman with a Mueller wedding dress . i could go on and on and on, but you wouldn't be able to produce 1/100th of the cult-ness for anyone in history of this country then can be produced by the Trump cultists. this many people didn't follow Jim Jones and David Koresh combined..
but i do wish they would hurry up and pass around the Flavor-Aid and do us all a favor .

of course they will, but who out there has Trumps Charisma? Desantis? Cruz? Neither will rally the troops like Trump does.
post trump, they will be a small minority

The next charismatic leader will come from outside of career politicians just like Trump did. Look for someone being propped up financially by Russian or Chinese oligarchs, like Trump was propped up by the Russian oligarchs for about a decade before Trump ran for office.

I don't know if charisma is the right word for what Trump has. He doesn't appeal to his base because if his charm. He appeals to them because of his rage, victimization and crudeness. There has to be another word for that.

That is not always true. plenty think he is such a nice guy. he is like a used car salesman but he sells himself.
