Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

im LOL the audio they set up is terrible. He cant hear anything from any reporter - and hasnt said a WORD about it yet

( other than to comment "this is a big room- $18,000,000 worth " )
Yet everyone else at opposite sides of the room could hear each other just fine. Trump's hearing may be diminishing and he's too vain to wear a hearing aid. I think there could also be something else happening and the next debate will reveal whether or not that other thing is what's actually happening.

Has he told ONE truth yet??? I gave it a shot and all I heard from him were lies on top of lies with no follow-ups to his ramblings.
He did tell at least one truth. He said most Americans want crime to be decreased. That's true and it includes the fact that most Americans want old Donny boy to be tried and verdicts delivered, for both the national security documents case and the Jan 6th case, before the election.

So, yes Donny Trump, most Americans do indeed want crime to be decreased, including your crimes.

His last two media events have been disasters. He's completely lost it, can't even stick to a clear message anymore. The right wing should be freaking the hell out right now.

His handlers really are going to have to hide him until the election.
Besides Trump's conference today and his interview with the NABJ, has Trump done any live question and answer events like this since he was shot at?

My guess - I think he’s been stewing over preparing for Biden, who he was convinced he could beat...
I agree. Thankfully there wasn't the same chaos in the democratic party as when lbj dropped out. And hopefully with different results.

I think trump's strategy to winning in November was similar to Bush Jr in 2004. Excite his base and depress turnout for biden. And I learned today that the one responsible for that falacious swift boat attack is part of Trump's campaign.

Trump isn't really trying to expand his appeal. Half hearted ploy to win black votes to offset lost suburban white females couldn't have been serious. Telling black voters that he can relate to them because hes a convict like them? He has a sneaker line? Losing black jobs? Really? Much like 2016 when we did see a depressed turnout, in Detroit for example, his strategy resembles more like sowing doubt. Further, he presented zero new policy, unlike 2016 when he had the anti establishment message. Against those elites that had done nothing since the 2008 crash. Instead those elites did more of the same with ttp, etc. A bit tangential...Biden's support of unions and focus on domestic manufacturing I believe have closed that gap.

With Biden, the press was readily willing to play that narrative that Biden is incapacitated (though it is clear that Biden has physically slowed). On the flip side, it is quite evident that trump is increasingly incoherent and erratic, but the media wont cover that even as time passes since biden stepped down. Unfortunately, that isn't far from his basal level. Still, it didn't help that Biden had a poor showing at that last debate. To be fair to Biden, find one journalist besides Rachel Scott, who fared well real time fact checking a Maga gish gallop. Raddatz? Welker? No. Maybe stephanopoulos. The tide and pile on against Biden was meteoric. And yeah, biden couldn't cope..."up to the task", fairly or not. He couldn't capture nor redirect the media's narrative, unlike harris. Thus, clearly excitement, which can represent turnout, was depressingly low for biden.

On the other hand, trump's base was optimistic that they can win against the backdrop of his's conviction, losing haley voters, and dobbs. We see on this site how energized his base became with more rw posters gloating at the height of the media blitz against biden. And to galvanize his base, immigration and culture wars? There has to be some in his base that recognize that he torpedoed that republican immigration bill, right? Right?!?!

Now that he's lost that one tool: to sow doubt that Biden can serve (and make no mistake that biden is doing his job. for example, he screamed at netanyahu saying, "stop bullshitting me" in dealing with israeli negotiations as recently reported), trump is back to reality. His usual childish moniker are quickly countered. There's a lot of uncertainty and pessimism now for him. Especially if turnout can be high as that of 2020 when even with that incumbent advantage, he lost. Ironically enough, he's acting like Hillary in 2016 and not out campaigning. Though the reason for that may be drastically different.

That perfect storm of 2016: asymmetric negative press against Hillary and free media invites like daily convo on morning joe, a strong resentment against the elites, a complacent opponent who didnt have the rizz..lol... to explain tpp etc, and a fresh face where not many are aware of his dirty laundry) is long gone, though that condition for the perfect storm seemed to have been replicated again recently...

Justbwith what's happening around the world...europe in particular, I just hope folks understand the magnitude and just show up to vote. And vote against authoritarian tendencies. Look no further than hungary, poland, turkey, russia to know how difficult it is to regain liberal democratic institutions. For poland, normalizing the judiciary and media will be a years task. I just can't see the majority being full of sfl. Not in the face of dobbs. No longer an incumbent. No longer a fresh face and now has a record as president. Even when Biden was running did i believe he has a majority. Where did he gain them? He bled haley voters. And these facists know that they aren't the majority. Not when they run around cosplaying brown shirts and wearing masks. They know there are consequences if their identity is known. That isn't majority behavior.

Jimmy Chenille should be his new nickname.
Weird is already his nickname, and I would just as soon he wears it for the duration.

On edit, it's been awhile since I brought up The First Thing You Know!

Well,,, the first thing you know...

Trump’s rambling today had some really bizarre moments, but maybe none worse than this one. The press should aggressively go after him on this. I would guess they won’t.

I just don't think the press will. Maga Republicans won't care. There are a thousand stories to write and nothing, including stealing American secrets, seems to anger enough Americans to reach critical point. Heck. The wa post published a story a few days ago about the Egyptians withdrawing cash, loading hundreds of pounds of it and handed to the Trump campaign. No outrage. No traction. No curiosity or call for barr's head.

Truly asymmetrical treatment. When the child misbehaves, the crowd stares at the adult.....but but hunter biden!

It was typical NPD story telling. Exaggerate to make the moment sound much more drastic than it actually was, and portray everyone as afraid, except for yourself.

Lawrence was on fire tonight. He calls out most of the media for being deferential - again - today when Trump did his fake news conference where he answered no questions. He did talk after he was asked questions, he just didn’t give any answers.

The above is from the Media thread, but it touches on an important issue that has everything to do with the general election. Lawrence shows how news outlets are demanding of everyone except Trump. He asks us to hammer the news outlets for this on social media.

In his video, he also plays the entirety of Harris's speech to the United Auto Workers (UAW) today, which no news outlet covered in it's entirety, like most did with Trump's "press conference." It's a great speech that American's need to hear, so please watch and link to Lawrence's video on every social media site you spend time on.

Here's the youtube link to Lawrence's video calling out news media and asking us to use our individual voices to help him call out news media on social media. It also has Harris's entire speech to the UAW:

    Here's a link to just Harris's speech:

This is a link to Walz's full speech introducing Harris and I think it's worth the time to listen to:

Shawn Fain, UAW President, also gave a good speech to introduce Walz. Here's the full event that includes Fain's speech:

And if you're like me, you want to hear what the audience members are saying. Here's a link to the full event from a mic that picks up the audience better:

Contrary to some people’s belief, our media is generally very deferential to Trump, and like being able to talk about him. They may very well be “the enemy of the people,” but not in the way him or his sycophants think.

Lawrence does more than just say that, he uses clips to irrefutably prove it. That's why his video is so important for people to see and share every where that they can.

Lawrence also uses clips to prove that Trump is the stupidest and most dishonest presidential candidate ever. There are a handful of dead presidents who are dancing in their graves to celebrate Trump knocking all of them out of contention for the worst president ever.

    why not both?

Kamala Harris has surged to a five-point lead over Donald Trump in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, putting her on 42 per cent to the Republican’s 37 per cent nationally with less than three months to go to November’s presidential election.

On Thursday, the Democrat said she welcomed Trump’s decision to debate her in September, which the former president announced at a rambling press conference at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.…..

Definitely. That statement is not either/or. And I think he is also deep into cognitive decline. My father who had Alzheimer’s was combative until he declined to the point where he could not respond.

It would be hard to unseat Andrew Jackson in my opinion, but Trump is up there. No doubt about that.
