Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

One thing you can already take away from Trump's turnout tonight. Never put another dollar in "ground game". That money should spent somewhere else. It does nothing.
That may be a uniquely Trump thing unless someone else can harness this cult following. His people don't support him, they worship him. Its why I've been saying over and over he was going to win by a lot.

I knew he'd get at least the same turnout as 2020 and if he did he'd easily win.

Just switched from PBS to CNN to compare. Their leads in each state and the state's they've each called are mostly different from each other.

This happened in 2020. Reporting was all over the place with a lot of people calling some states early for Trump that he didn't win. Remember everyone said the Fox guy was wrong when he called Arizona for Biden, but that dud was right.

I remember in 2020 about this time a lot of people were convinced Trump would win. He may win, but reporting and projections don't determine the winner, the total vote count does.

I think ultimately the country wasn't ready for a woman, let alone a black woman. Trump gets off scot free because the Court basically said he can do whatever he wants.

We're done. I can't see where we go from here.

And, yeah, it's not over yet, but a lot is gonna have to go right to get there.

Remember when if someone has unpaid speeding tickets they were considered unfit to serve?

2016 - America much more racist sexist etc than we ever knew

2024 - Not much has changed

Na, that's not it. If Dems lose tonight. It's on Biden. Kamala was tied to a very unpopular incumbent adminstration.

I'm also very doubtful that Kamala wins if Biden drops out a year ago.

P.S. Chances of a Dem house are going up.

To your early point, I don't know. I don't think Biden wins regardless. I thought Harris had a better chance and I thought she acquitted herself well.

To the PS, I hope so. We'll see.

No, she did. Kamala ran the best campaign she was capable of as well. Still, she hads to take over his campaign, and was his VP.

You don't know that. Harris could have possibly got even less votes without it.

It did nothing to Trump's turnout. He had almost zero ground game.
Trump is unique and other people can't pull off what Trump can. Harris without a ground game might have gotten less votes and probably would have gotten less votes. If it helped Harris get more votes, then it did something.

I don't think there was anything the Dems could have really done. Trump was going to get as much and maybe even a little more than he got in 2020. Nothing was going to change that.

Democrats needed a miracle to repeat their 2020 turnout. I think they did the best they could with a terrible situation. You couldn't beat him on policy, he has none. You couldn't beat him on discipline, he has none to beat. You couldn't beat him on turnout, the cult was showing up no matter what.

A global pandemic beat him in 2020, not the Democrats.

You don't know that either. LOL

We only have one campaign every with zero ground game, and it did nothing to turnout.

The fact that I don't know it did make a difference does not mean that you know that it did not make a difference. One thing being unknown or unprovable does not prove the opposite.

We both don't know what difference it did or didn't make for Harris's campaign. We also don't know that Trump wouldn't have gotten even more votes with a ground game.

You are the one who proclaimed that a ground game doesn't make a difference. You believe that, but you do not know that, which is all that I originally said.

I don't agree with this take at all, and this won't be how it's framed in history books.

They will talk about Biden. A 80 year old man who sounded like one. He ran as a one term president. He was massively unpopular, and still wouldn't dropout until forced by the party. He destroyed his legacy if Harris loses.

That's how a Trump win will be remembered.

We’re on the verge of becoming the leader of the authoritarian world! Even if Harris wins, the world should not rely on America to lead the free world.
Russia is going to be the leader of the authoritarian world, to be more accurate.
