Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

Now Trump says he will make the purchase of a generator fully deductible from our taxes retroactive to now but expiring next August. Does he know the president can’t really just write tax code? He can’t just wish it into existence.

Isn’t it just as likely that he doesn’t understand how it works either?

He truly doesn't understand the Office of the President of the United States, he thinks the President has the powers of a King! Trump is too stupid to comprehend our system of governance.
To be honest, he doesn't want to.

He's categorically uninterested in doing the job. Always has been. What living NPD wants is the salutes, the "Yes Sir, Mr President." The complete *obedience* to his whims.

He's got no grand vision for America. He couldn't care less if you held a gun to his head.

This should be disqualifying. First off - he cannot acknowledge the results of the 2020 election. Secondly - he brings up the “censorship” canard - there was no censorship - none. They were prevented from spreading their lies about Hunter Biden as far as they wanted to - but the contents of the laptop were published in full by the NY Post. Even though we now know parts of it are indeed Russian disinformation, it was published. Thirdly - he says he wouldn’t have certified the 2020 election, again disqualifying.

He’s a real piece of shirt, this guy.

I just want to say how much I love Lulu Garcia-Navarro.

This is what I’m talking about!

BTW - I read that Trump is doing his Madison Square Garden rally on the anniversary of a big Nazi rally in NYC in the 1930’s. Don’t know if that’s true or not.

Donald Trump intensified his politics of nativism and xenophobia on Friday by announcing a sweeping plan to deport Venezuelans he claimed have “infected” a once-peaceful city in Colorado.

The Republican presidential nominee held a campaign rally in Aurora on a stage adorned with posters displaying mugshots of people in prison-orange uniforms with descriptions including “illegal immigrant gang members from Venezuela”.

Trump told the crowd: “I’m announcing today that, upon taking office, we will have an ‘Operation Aurora’ at the federal level to expedite the removals of these savage gangs.”

He pledged to invoke the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 law that allows the president to deport any non-citizen from a country that the US is at war with.

“We will send elite squads of Ice [Immigration and Customs Enforcement], border patrol and federal law enforcement officers to hunt down, arrest and deport every last illegal alien gang member until there is not a single one left in this country,” he continued as the crowd roared approval.

If they return to the US, Trump said, they will serve an automatic 10 years in prison without parole. “I’m hereby calling for the death penalty for any migrant that kills an American citizen or a law enforcement officer. With your vote, we will achieve complete and total victory over these sadistic monsters. It’s going to go very quickly,” he said.

The rally represented a detour for Trump, since Colorado is not a battleground state and looks certain to vote for his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris. But recent events offered him an opportunity to exploit a swirl of local rumours to push his anti-immigrant message.……

Donald Trump and the Republican party are pushing an agenda of “division, chaos and hate” by spending tens of millions on ads attacking transgender people, advocates said, as the right wing intensifies its anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric.

The GOP has spent more than $65m on ads targeting trans people, the New York Times reported on Tuesday, with the former president’s most frequently aired ad targeting Kamala Harrisover her support for gender-affirming care.

Television ads have also been running in tight statewide races further down the ballot, including in Ohio, Montana and Wisconsin, with Republicans returning to hyperbolic, far-right talking points that proved unsuccessful during the 2022 midterm elections.

“The Maga [Make America great again] agenda is one of division, chaos and hate,” said Brandon Wolf, a spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ advocacy group Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

“They pit neighbors against one another and try to divide our communities because they don’t have a vision for lifting people up or bringing the nation together.”

One Trump ad highlights comments the vice-president made in 2019, when she said she supported “surgical care” for trans prisoners. The ad shows Harris posing next to Pattie Gonia, a drag queen – Gonia, whose real name is Wyn Wiley, has said he may sue the Trump campaign for using his image without permission – and ends with the voiceover: “Kamala is for they, them. President Trump is for you.”

The economy and immigration are among the key issues for Americans in the upcoming election, and Trump has focussed much of his rhetoric on those topics.

But with some polls showing that Harris is becoming more trusted on those issues, it appears that Trump and the Republican party have made a concerted effort to focus on anti-trans issues.

There is evidence, however, that this is an unsuccessful strategy.…….

The longtime Donald Trump ally and friend Roger Stone said Republicans should send “armed guards” to the polls in November to ensure a Trump victory, according to video footage by an undercover journalist.

The video, first published by Rolling Stone, shows an embittered Stone, still angry about the 2020 election and ready to fight in 2024. Stone described the former US president’s legal strategy of constant litigation to purge voter rolls in swing states.

“We gotta fight it out on a state-by-state basis,” said Stone. “We’re already in court in Wisconsin, we’re already in court in Florida.”……..

Former President Trump will participate in a Fox News town hall with exclusively female voters next week, seeking to broaden his appeal to a group he has consistently struggled to win over.

The event will be taped Tuesday in Cumming, Ga., and it will air Wednesday morning on Fox News. It will be moderated by Harris Faulkner, who has interviewed Trump multiple times, and the audience will consist of only women.

“Women constitute the largest group of registered and active voters in the United States, so it is paramount that female voters understand where the presidential candidates stand on the issues that matter to them most,” Faulkner said in a statement.

“I am looking forward to providing our viewers with an opportunity to learn more about where former President Trump stands on these topics.”…….

This should be a bigger deal

And the campaign should be told “you are not holding any rally or event anywhere in our state until this bill is paid”
    ======================

Former President Donald Trump held a third rally last month in Erie, Pennsylvania, which sits in the northwest corner of a swing state that could decide who wins the White House.

Like the two other times Trump has been to Erie to rev up his supporters, he left without paying the bill.

City officials haven't yet tallied up what the Trump campaign owes Erie for public safety costs for his most recent rally in September.

But according to a city official, Trump owes the city more than $40,000 for the rallies he held there in 2018 and 2023.

Erie, whose bills were previously reported by the Erie Times-News, isn't the only city that has hosted Trump rallies and not been paid by the campaign.

Including Erie, four cities and a county confirmed to NBC News that they're still waiting for the Trump campaign to pay bills often associated with reimbursements for the costs of local law enforcement and other first responder personnel.

The final price tag is more than $750,000 for those five jurisdictions, with some bills dating back eight years.

At the same time, it's not always clear cut whose legal responsibility it is to foot the bill.

Reached for comment, a Trump campaign official said in a text message that “questions related to local law enforcement and first responder costs should be directed to secret service.”……..
