Hunter Biden received a $3.5 million wire transfer from Elena Baturina, the richest woman in Russia and the widow of Yury Luzhkov, the former mayor of Moscow, Senate Republicans revealed in their report on the younger Biden’s work in Ukraine.

Baturina is referenced in the 87-page report, which was released Wednesday, addressing her payment to Biden’s investment firm in early 2014.

“Baturina became Russia’s only female billionaire when her plastics company, Inteko, received a series of Moscow municipal contracts while her husband was mayor,” it said in providing background on the businesswoman.

The report described her involvement with Biden as “a financial relationship,” but declined to delve deeper into why the wire transfer was made.

The probe also found that Baturina sent 11 wires transfers between May and December 2015 to a bank account belonging to BAK USA, a tech startup that filed for bankruptcy in March 2019.

Nine of those 11 wire transfers were first sent to Rosemont Seneca Partners, the investment firm founded by Biden and Chris Heinz, stepson of former Secretary of State John Kerry, before being transferred to BAK USA.

If you read it in context, it makes sense as an opening to my opinion on why they charged HB and why they chose those particular charges.

When I said "I'll be impressed when they charge him for the bribes for The big Guy." I meant that I would be impressed if they charged him for the bribes for the Big Guy," not that I ever think that they will.

Maybe a better question would have been "why will you be impressed by that" rather than spinning your own interpretation and insisting that I take one of your two choices of what I meant.

I would be impressed by that because I fully expected the DOJ to avoid any charges of Hunter that would implicate his father. If they had charged him with something that did implicate his father, I would be impressed with their willingness to go after a non-Republican, or non-Trump president. Doesn't mean that I would agree with it, but I would rethink my opinion that this is all part of the larger "Operation Get Trump," ongoing for seven years now.

I was not implying any detailed knowledge of the law, nor access to evidence that no one else has, nor desire that he be prosecuted for one thing rather than another. Any such inferences did not originate with my words.

If you want to know, I'd prefer at this point that Hunter not be prosecuted for anything at all. Prosecuting the son of a sitting president would undermine confidence not only in the presidency, but also the justice system. If Biden and Hunter are involved in bribery, which seems pretty obvious, the DOJ should turn its evidence over to Congress for action. If and when Congress removes Biden, the DOJ can take its turn.

But the Trumps do business in foreign countries because they own businesses. They have goods and real estate and going companies to sell, money to invest and lend and to buy and sell goods and services, and a history of profit making that long predates Trump taking office. They participate in actual commerce.
