    Elon Musk struck a deal on Monday to buy Twitter for roughly $44 billion, in a victory by the world’s richest man to take over the influential social network frequented by world leaders, celebrities and cultural trendsetters.

    Twitter agreed to sell itself to Mr. Musk for $54.20 a share, a 38 percent premium over the company’s share price this month before he revealed he was the firm’s single largest shareholder. It would be the largest deal to take a company private — something Mr. Musk has said he will do with Twitter — in at least two decades, according to data compiled by Dealogic.

    “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Mr. Musk said in a statement announcing the deal. “Twitter has tremendous potential — I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

    The deal, which has been unanimously approved by Twitter’s board, is expected to close this year, subject to a vote of Twitter shareholders and certain regulatory approvals.

    The blockbuster agreement caps what had seemed an improbable attempt by the famously mercurial Mr. Musk, 50, to buy the social media company — and immediately raises questions about what he will do with the platform and how his actions will affect online speech globally.

    Israel were born partly due to terror by Haganah which later became the Israeli army.

    Repeating your ignorance does not make the things you claim true. So you find one examples of sexual misconduct accusation by UN units. Do you know how many I can find with regards to US troops. That does not mean that I think that all US service members are like that but that there are rotten apples in every barrel.


    The US is one of very few countries who do NOT abide by the war crime tribunal in Haag. Russia is another.

    The US did not create Israel. The UN created 2 states by votes among all members. Educate yourself
    In the resulting chaos and fighting with Haganah vs. palestinian, Israel ended up with a lot of the land that the UN assigned to the Palestinians.

    Yep, you’re an idiot. There was nothing left standing in Europe after the war. We paid for everything to rebuild them by large we freed them with American soldiers blood. This is why liberals lose elections. 🤣

    Terms of service, that’s the first come from somebody that’s realized they lost argument and want to go cry. So my feeling is is you don’t like being challenged and proven wrong which I’ve done many times the UN forces raped children in the Congo Koffi Annan had to resign ultimately because of that basically. Stop trying to defend your position and stop threatening that somebody will be banned because you can’t just defend your position.:)

    We are not here to "win". We are here to discuss as adults and maybe learn something.

    Most of us here are willing to learn, but we can have a decent discussion without abusive name calling and you never respond to facts (based on verified links) but just keep throwing out claims or changes the subject "to win". Your last link did not even point to anything.

    When discussing the politics of Israel/Palestine, you throw in unrelated links to african military UN units as a gotcha - which is basically unrelated and when I showed you another link to similar US troop issues, you just ignore it and repeat your namecalling.

    Your claims about Europe is very wrong. Yes certain parts of Europe mainly germany and France suffered great damages but to claim that there were "nothing left" are ignorant. And the Marshall plan definitely also benefitted the US by creating a market for US goods as well as removing trade restrictions and influencing politics to ensure governments with favorable attitudes toward the US.

    You’re friendly tonight, so I’ll be nice. But you do understand the United States shed much blood with American soldiers to free Europe and we built the UN. My grandfather on my mother side limped, the rest of his life and my grandfather and my father side who served never talked about it! There was nothing left of European countries after World War II. I can pull pictures of Europe across the entire continent, bombed to shreds at the end.

    My maternal grandfather spend 2 years in a german KZ camp because he fought against Hitler so no - the US were not the only ones who fought and I am sure that the English, polish and french units will absolutely disagree. The war started in 1939 and the US did not enter the war until they were attacked by Japan in december 1941. And you are wrong. You may have images of destruction but aside from Germany and some parts of Holland and France and the central area of Italy around Monte Casino there were plenty of areas that only suffered minor destruction.

    The destruction of Warshaw and Budapest were not even done by the germans but by the russians
