Everything I've seen and heard says that the split second Donald Trump is no longer president there will be flood of charges waiting for him

And if he resigns and Pence pardons him there are a ton of state charges as an understudy waiting in the wings if the fed charges can't perform

What do you think the likelihood of there being a jail sentence?

    In every movie and TV show I've ever seen, in every political thriller I've ever read about a criminal and corrupt president there is ALWAYS some version of;

"We can't do that to the country",

"A trial would tear the country apart",

"For the nation to heal we need to move on" etc.

    Would life imitate art?

Even with the charges, even with the proof the charges are true will the powers that be decide, "we can't do that to the country"?

Well, the judge is a Trump appointee so I guess I shouldn't be shocked...

I have no problem with appointing a special master. All that is going to do is ensure that everything that the FBI has is classified material that Trump had that he shouldn't have. It's going to remove the "they were on a fishing expedition, looking for anything to use against Trump" argument away from his supporters....and, if there is a trial, it's going to remove the possibility of Trump's team being able to argue that the FBI had items they weren't supposed to have.

And his capo is out here threatening violence as well. What a Peice of work.

Let's go. We have a president in charge that won't hesitate to send out the national guard, if necessary.

This time when they get violent and attack, shoot to kill.

“If there’s a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information,” said Sen. Lindsey O. Graham on Fox News, there will be “riots in the streets.”

The South Carolina Republican’s quote has been relentlessly skewered as a blatant threat of retaliatory political violence ever since he offered it Sunday night.

And it is that: Everyone knows the old mob-speak trick of cloaking threats in the guise of faux-innocent “predictions.”

But there’s a more pernicious danger here that shouldn’t escape notice.

Underlying Graham’s threat is another attack on the rule of law, one that more Trump propagandists will resort to when their man’s legal perils deepen. It’s an effort to discredit the idea that the law can be applied to the former president at all……..

Larry Hogan wants us to just pretend most of his party is not still pushing this guy. If he wants us to take him seriously, he and the rest of his party needs to acknowledge what this from Trump actually is. Otherwise Hogan just looks like another enabler.

Trump has been going off on Truth Social - scores of posts, many of which are pulled from 4Chan.

When Trump feels most vulnerable, he tries to foment violence, to inflict pain.

And they've included photos of some of the documents seized...

“The government tried to retrieve the documents for more than a year. The affidavit showed that the National Archives asked Mr. Trump as early as May 2021 for files that needed to be returned. In January, the agency was able to collect 15 boxes of documents. The affidavit included a letter from May 2022 showing that Trump’s lawyers knew that he might be in possession of classified materials and that the Justice Department was investigating the matter.

The material included highly classified documents. The F.B.I. said it had examined the 15 boxes Mr. Trump had returned to the National Archives in January and that all but one of them contained documents that were marked classified. The markings suggested that some documents could compromise human intelligence sources and that others were related to foreign intercepts collected under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

Prosecutors are concerned about obstruction and witness intimidation. To obtain the search warrant, the Justice Department had to lay out possible crimes to a judge, and obstruction of justice was among them. In a supporting document, the Justice Department said it had “well-founded concerns that steps may be taken to frustrate or otherwise interfere with this investigation if facts in the affidavit were prematurely disclosed.””

“Investigators developed evidence that “government records were likely concealed and removed” from the storage room at Mar-a-Lago after the Justice Department sent Mr. Trump’s office a subpoena for any remaining documents with classified markings. That led prosecutors to conclude that “efforts were likely taken to obstruct the government’s investigation,” the government filing said.”

So what I’m reading is that the documents were hidden among personal items, like the framed magazine covers. The DOJ is saying that Trump took actions to conceal these items after they served him with a subpoena for them.

Rumor is that they have evidence he went through the boxes in the storage room personally and removed the extremely sensitive items. Whether that is surveillance footage or informant testimony, who knows?

Also, RNC is refusing to pay his legal bills for this:

…….The agents also came to doubt claims by Trump’s team that the storage room was the only place where such documents might be found.

When agents conducted their court-ordered search on Aug. 8, they found material so sensitive that “even the FBI counterintelligence personnel and DOJ attorneys conducting the review required additional clearances before they were permitted to review certain documents,” the filing says.

Among the most incriminating details in the government filing is a photograph, showing a number of files labeled “Top Secret” with bright red or yellow cover sheets, spread out over a carpet. Those files were found inside a container in Trump’s office, according to the court filing.

A close examination of one of the cover sheets in the photo shows a marking for “HCS,” a government acronym for systems used to protect intelligence gathered from secret human sources…..
