Everything I've seen and heard says that the split second Donald Trump is no longer president there will be flood of charges waiting for him

And if he resigns and Pence pardons him there are a ton of state charges as an understudy waiting in the wings if the fed charges can't perform

What do you think the likelihood of there being a jail sentence?

In every movie and TV show I've ever seen, in every political thriller I've ever read about a criminal and corrupt president there is ALWAYS some version of;

"We can't do that to the country",

"A trial would tear the country apart",

"For the nation to heal we need to move on" etc.

Would life imitate art?

Even with the charges, even with the proof the charges are true will the powers that be decide, "we can't do that to the country"?

I've worked with some classified information in my career, and if I were contacted and told that I had brought home something that was classified, my response would be "I'm on my way bringing it back right now." The thought of "let's discuss how I can get it back to you" would never have entered my head...and if it did for a moment, I wouldn't still be discussing it a year and a half after I brought it home.

I worked on a DoD superfund cleanup outside of Denver in the early 2000’s.

Not only was classified documents training required, everybody gets their files audited to ensure mistakes in forms were crossed out correctly and the field logbooks were copied daily for the file. Copy machines have counters on them and you aren’t allowed to throw away paper or shred it.

No external drives. shirt, you weren’t even allowed to save to your hard drive - only the server.

If we would have been caught taking home the sensitive material regarding the chemical weapons we eliminated and the quantities, I was basically assured prison as a traitor to America.

So in my experience with the DoD, yes they care very much about document security

Probably none however it depends on where you work and what's around. I was a DOD civilian and there was classified information in rooms all through the location.

I don’t think it’s all that simple according to what I was reading. There’s paperwork and a protocol. So he can’t just wave his hand and say “I declassify you”.

The National Archives knows what is missing, I would think. And yes, even the notes and letters need to go to the Archives as I understand it. But if you read the list of the original boxes of documents that were taken months ago, there were classified documents of the highest order. Top Secret IIRC, which means that if they got out it would be a serious breach of national security.

So what you are saying is what Rs want us to think. I sincerely doubt that was the extent of what they took.

Here's the thing. Even if that is what they took, they don't belong to Donald Trump. Those things go to the National Archives. As example, Obama's #44 jersey from the New Orleans Saints doesn't go to Obama. It's in the National Archives. It could eventually go to the Obama Presidential Library, but I believe the Archives would have to agree to these things.
