Several prominent Democratic figures are set to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this month, two sources familiar with the plans told NBC News.

President Joe Biden, former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been confirmed as speakers at the convention. Obama and the Clintons delivered speeches during the 2020 DNC, which was largely held virtually to prevent the spread of Covid-19 amid the pandemic.

A source familiar said that former President Jimmy Carter’s grandson Jason Carter is also confirmed to be speaking as a representative for his grandfather…….

Could be. She is back from her overseas tour. According to Twitter she is currently in Kansas City.

Other guesses are George Bush, Mike Pence, Liz Cheney. lol.
Pence would be shocking, and depending on what he says, perhaps a difference maker.

I could see GWB. I know he and Laura are close to the Obamas, and I suspect he doesn't think much of Trump at all.

Okay - I just read a new speculation - Mitt Romney.

Also - I suppose it could be that Beyoncé is actually performing her song “Freedom” in that slot.

Trump was able to tap into some pent up frustration/angst/anger in the GOP. ( that was born out of several factors over the years - be it bigotry, racism, jealousy, envy etc )

He capitalized on it and used it to propel him to the top of the ticket. He didnt cultivate, he simply used what was there, underneath the surface, and allowed it to come to the top.

The problem for him and those like him....we arent wired to stay angry/frustrated for any length of time. Humans arent looking to live a life of angst or aggrieved. It takes to much out of each and every person who does. Sure, there are some who are perfectly fine living in that realm, but its a very slim minority that do. So they have to REMIND others EVERY SINGLE DAY of WHY and HOW and WHO.

But eventually, joy and happiness ( seeking out ) win the day. So those reminders get less traction, less play, and folks simply start to gravitate away from the negative.

The ones peddling this negativity see this happening, so they RAMP up the rhetoric in hopes that it will draw those BACK IN. But it has an opposite effect, because time isnt on their side. Time heals all wounds. So the louder they get, the more repeating the message they do, the more folks they turn off. Until no one is listening any longer.

We are arriving at a point where folks are tuning out from the negativity. They HAVE to for their sake. Our brains, for a vast majority of us, cannot stay in that "negative place" for long. Its the antitheses of who we are as humans. We ultimately just want to live a life of happiness and peace.

The incessant blustering and bloviating by certain members of the GOP has gotten old. Psychologically, the Dems have tapped into that innate desire to just live in harmony with one another because life is too short to live in anger all the time.

Its !@#!@#@# brilliant and while i would have liked to have reached this point sooner rather than later, we are here now. I hope it continues because there is no greater way to diffuse anger, frustration or angst than happiness/joy/peace. And once you remove THAT from this GOP equation, Trump is left without clothes. He has ZERO empathy, love or affection for anyone outside himself. ( and deep down i think he has turned off that self-awareness part out of survival, mentally )
Emotions can build up like water pressure. When that pressure is released it usually leads to a nearly equal emotional swing in the opposite direction. As a society, we have built up a tremendous amount of emotional grief, fear, anger and hate. That pressure seems to have burst, because we are seeing an equal swing in the direction of joy, courage, calm and love. It's building a never seen before unity within our broad community. Never have major leaders from one party attended the convention of another party to endorse that party's candidate over the candidate of their party. Never.

I think the unity will transcend past the election, but it won't last forever. We need to all work together during this period to make the permanent changes needed to make sure everyone gets equal care, rights and opportunities moving forward, with a heavy emphasis on making the wealth class/caste share more and exploit less.

Don't think Pence would ever do it.....he is still a Christian fascist.....

My money's on W......he can't stand Trump and despite being an absolute idiot and a terrible president (basically Cheney's tool) I do believe in the end he puts country first.....

If Taylor Swift and Beyoncé performed a duet, the reaction would reverberate to the edges of the universe.
