You're supposed to order through InstaCart and stimulate economic growth by providing jobs for gig workers!
I'm accustomed to Aldi and Lidl requiring me to bring my own bags, but now it is the law that EVERY supermarket needs to do that as well.
I have always lined my kitchen garbage can and my home's wastebaskets with the plastic bags from Shop Rite, Walmart, etc.
Now mind you...I'll still need plastic bags, so while I am in the store that is not allowed to provide me plastic bags for free...that very same store will happily SELL them to me.

So my question is: Will our NJ Democratic Governor's law really save the environment, or does his law just end up enriching the bank accounts of the companies that sell plastic bags to line garbage cans and wastebaskets?
(I'm NOT saying or implying he is corrupt. I'm thinking he is NOT. I'm just saying that I don't think it will make much difference to the ecology...hey, many people have been like me... not wasting these "one time use bags", but instead using them wisely. Now that option has been removed and we'll be forced to pay out for something that has been free all our lives.)

Fair point. I give the plastic bags to my mom to use for cat litter. Also I wish there was an Aldi's here! Things like this seem a bit much -- I'm sure they could require the bags be made out of recycled plastic or something rather than just ban them entirely.

I'm not sure if you are aware, but the NJ Supermarkets are not even allowed to offer brown paper bags instead.

You have a point about grocery bag laws. But that’s definitely a local issue.

But how much sense does it make to blame Biden for global inflation, global supply chain issues, and global high oil prices? And exactly what should he do?

Didn't the orange man, a few times, call a bunch of the big oligarchs to the Whitehouse to discuss issues and that seemed to help? Maybe if the this administration actually worked with the wealthy as opposed to going to war with them to satisfy the base of rabid Bernie Bros, we would see something happening.
Please don't take this as me siding with the wealthy. There a problem there, I just have no idea how to remedy it yet.

    Yes

    Yes indeed.
I feel so "thankful" to Joe Biden!

In the specific post that @SFIDC3 quoted, I personally posted two online articles.
One from CNN (many things are said or posted on CNN that are ignorant)
    and...
one article from bloomberg.com (I think THEY are far from ignorant)

I don’t recall any time Trump had such a meeting at the WH. Maybe you can flesh that part out a bit?

Naw, wasn't referencing the articles, but the belief that somehow any US administration has some kind of control, or lets say....magic wand that can somehow control the results of a global free market....and those same folks claim to love capitalism so, so much.....

I have plenty of complaints about President Biden, but blaming him for the economy in this worldwide pandemic, WW 3 on the horizon, microchip shortage, labor shortage, logistical back log, nightmare of a global economy is kinda ridiculous.

I would say it is hard to blame him individually, but rather, anyone that was part of the 'shut down' mob is to blame.

I will look into it at some point, I seem recall at least 2 instances, maybe more. I also remember some of the business guys getting heat for meeting with Trump.

This is why playing to the middle and "delivering" isn't going to help Biden or democrats in poor Republican states. It's culture war or nothing for those people.

But the infrastructure bill was the chief topic in the only debate between the candidates last week. Mooney claimed the bill is part of “Biden’s socialist spending spree.” He criticized the bill’s subsidies for purchasing electric cars, “which will disproportionately help wealthy individuals living in blue cities,” and complained that the legislation “includes sexual identity and gender orientation language.” McKinley noted that Trump, while president, proposed a $2 trillion infrastructure package, twice the size of Biden’s.

When he voted for the bill, McKinley lamented how many of his constituents still lack Internet access, especially students who needed to connect to WiFi from fast-food parking lots during the coronavirus pandemic. “Instead of playing politics, I put America and West Virginia first,” McKinley said in a statement. “I voted for those kids.”

On Tuesday, West Virginia Republicans cast a vote that helps explain why their state continues to fall behind its more advanced neighbors like Virginia. In too many places, fighting culture wars is now far more important to the GOP than investing in clean water, stable bridges and reliable broadband access.

Besides McKinley, a dozen House Republicans voted for the infrastructure bill. Five opted not to seek reelection. A sixth died in office (Alaska’s Don Young). Now, a seventh has been defeated.

...and many of the shutdowns were state/local decisions. That's Federalism at work.
Very true. My state didn't shut down but for a month. Plenty of time for the damage to take place. Also the perpetual lockdown across the country in the democrat areas did not help our overall economy either.
