I was looking for a place to put this so we could discuss but didn't really find a place that worked so I created this thread so we can all place articles, experiences, videos and examples of racism in the USA.

This is one that happened this week. The lady even called and filed a complaint on the officer. This officer also chose to wear the body cam (apparently, LA doesn't require this yet). This exchange wasn't necessarily racist IMO until she started with the "mexican racist...you will never be white, like you want" garbage. That is when it turned racist IMO

All the murderer and other insults, I think are just a by product of CRT and ACAB rhetoric that is very common on the radical left and sadly is being brought to mainstream in this country.

Another point that I think is worth mentioning is she is a teacher and the sense of entitlement she feels is mind blowing.

Yes leaning towards libertarian. If a trans person want to call themselves a woman it’s none of my business. I don’t want it infringing on my life. Same with a gay person. What they do is none of my business. unless it harms someone else our government should stay out of it. Right wing and left wing are so far apart it’s ripping a country I served proudly to pieces.
Then you and I would agree on just about everything then.
I could actually care less but I will not be told I have to celebrate it or allow a guy, regardless of what type of mental disorder he has, to go into a female restroom. Especially in elementary and high school.

Not at first, at first you said "based on the track record"

And it is obvious that you did not read the article because the article says it's already panned out:

Quote from the article and police department below:

"According to a newly formed unit in the SDPD called the Force Analysis Unit, there seems to be a systemic race-based bias that prompts officers in the department to wrongfully use force when they see a Black person."
track record of who? Who was I referring to?

Has it already panned out? Can you show me the judgement where he won the case. That might have been the fastest case ever, especially during the holiday. How much did he win? What was the officers punishment. There were found guilty right?

I tell ya I really don’t know. I don’t post here much, I prefer the Saints board version. When I read your posts I get the feeling you’re trying to instigate things. Nothing you really come out and say but just a hazy level of something going on. I may be wrong I will freely admit that.

Actually, you are spot on! LOL.

I don't try and instigate things, I just like voicing my opinion and calling crazy crazy. My opinion is so different from most on here and you probably remember how that goes from the old board.

I am about the only one on here that voices a different opinion so, yeah, my tone and tenor might be a little combative at times but I feel I get way more than I give.

    #victimhood

You get and give about the same amounts, but you are right in that you’re about the only conservative one here who engages rather than just reading/adding reactions, so it seems like the lefties are piling on when it’s just because no other conservatives are brave enough to engage in conversation that is at least civil enough to remain within the TOS.

So for that, I’m grateful you’re here and posting.

I really think you should re-evaluate exactly how much of a “libertarian” you are, honestly. You are advocating a whole lot of authoritarian principles these days. Tucker and others in the far right media landscape have been leading you down this path for so long, you probably don’t even realize how much you want to restrict a whole lot of people‘s freedoms.

Not your own freedoms, of course, but anyone who you don’t like, well they need to be governed. Teachers, women, trans and/or gay people, BLM members, college professors, etc.

I think in general liberals talk and engage more. I rarely talk about politics outside of this board because I don't feel it ever changes anything.

Did we just become best friends? I think we did!

Thanks, though, cool of you to say.

That is true. Conservatives believe and have believed that the lefts idea will fall apart in the 'real' world but while we were busy not engaging in the culture war, the left was very active and has probably change the 'real' world into their 'twisted' logic.

That is why I engage, at the very least, I want to call out what I see and try my best to shine a light so other may see what is actually happening.

I am taking off my very real tin-foil hat now.

Just posting this, since it was discussed a few pages back

“I take full responsibility for the hurtful words used to describe the individual who burglarized the vehicles at my home. I am sorry for the pain that I have caused my community and ask for your forgiveness, as my words did not foster the public’s confidence and integrity for the judiciary,” Odinet said in a letter submitted to the Louisiana Supreme Court filed by her attorney Dane Ciolino.

Ciolino told HuffPost Odinet “understands that this is the end of her public service, but only the beginning of what she must to do to earn the forgiveness of the community.”

And how is this different from the left? Honest question.
what is the left trying to do to restrict freedoms? If you say masks, that’s a public health message, not a leftist political philosophy. The left isn’t actually forcing vaccinations, there are testing options in almost every case, and it’s not political either. The left wants to explore racial injustice in a way that has been ignored for far too long, but they aren’t taking away any freedoms from anyone to do that. The criminal justice system has been unequal in punishment by race since Reconstruction and it won’t take away anyone’s freedom to address that.

I feel that the left is actually trying to solve the economic inequities of the past 40 years or so, where the middle and working classes have been squeezed and are seeing their quality of life erode while corporations and the upper classes have seen their incomes explode. CEOs used to make about 30x what their entry level workers earned. Now it’s more like 300x. That balance needs to be restored or we will lose our middle class and if that happens we will lose our country. It won’t be easy to do these things, but the left is the only one that wants to try.

The right is all about restricting freedom these days. They want to censor teachers and ban books. They want to allocate medical care to women. They want to even decide where people will go to pee. They’re sliding towards complete authoritarian principles. It didn’t used to be that way, but the last 10 years has been a dramatic change. The right is completely scary these days.

I can see some problems on the left, social change is bumpy and there are always people or places that go too far. But by and large the left wants everyone to have the same freedoms.

Left blames right, right blames left. We can’t have one or another. We need a balance that is centered on working towards common goals.

And it's even more frustrating when its happening at the local level.

What does border and immigration policies have to do with my city council? But hardcore partisans root for their "team" regardless of qualification and hammer any "teammate" that tries to reach across the aisle as 'not being real "party affliation" '

It's exhausting, and toxic, and is driving well-intentioned reasonable people out of politics.

In my state, school board members have never had to declare a political party. They just run for election based on their ideals about education. But now the R state legislature is introducing a law to make them declare a political party to run for school board. What sense does that make? Why should I have to know which political party my school board rep identifies with? I’ve never understood why sheriff has to be political either. Just run on your law enforcement philosophies. I don’t care what national political party you identify with.

.......In the clip, she discusses foods commonly eaten on New Year’s Day, including greens, black-eyed peas, cornbread, and pork. “I ate dumpling soup,” Li commented. “That’s what a lot of Korean people do.”

Your friendly neighborhood Mediaite contributing editor made black-eyed peas for my family and neighbors (easy recipe here), but that dumpling soup sounds really good too.

The unhappy woman who left Li the voicemail apparently thought differently, so irate that a mere 3 seconds of televised airtime were devoted to discussing Korean traditions, that she felt compelled to call Li and leave a voicemail message complaining about it. Li posted a video on her Twitter and Instagram accounts, in which she plays the audio of the voicemail and calmly sips a drink from a green plastic cup.

“Hi!” the message cheerily begins. “Um, this evening, your Asian anchor mentioned something about being Asian, and Asian people eat dumplings on New Year’s Day, and I kinda take offense to that. Because what if one of your White anchors said, ‘Well, White people eat this on New Year’s Day’?”

She continued, complaining that she didn’t “think it was appropriate that she said that, and she’s being very Asian, and, uh, I don’t know, she can keep her Korean, um, to herself, alright?”

“Sorry, it was annoying,” she concluded, offering this explanation: “Because if a White person would say that, they would get fired.”

As seen above, Li does not react much in the video itself, but did write on Twitter that she would “love to say something back,” and on Instagram she captioned the post with, “We should all be given the chance to bring our full humanity to the table.”

She also changed her online bios to read “VERY ASIAN” and has received an outpouring of support online, with a number of her fellow Asian-American journalists making similar changes to their bios..............

I see that issue here and I think the R's want that because it kind of prevents a Sheriff's deputy from challenging his or her boss, and yet who would there be to challenge a Sheriff if a deputy already on the force could not take up that mantel.

So what happens is a deputy who is probably already a Republican, has to declare they are a Democrat before they can run. And that doesn't give them a fair chance to defeat an incubate Sheriff who has the hold on being THE Republican.

I tend to ignore party when deciding who to vote for, for Sheriff, and would wish they wouldn't foul up school boards by politicizing it.

In my state sheriffs are term-limited so that’s not an issue. My particular county seems to have a well-run department from what I can tell. There were two challengers to the sitting sheriff in the last election, both from within the department. One chose to run as an R in the primary and got defeated by the incumbent. The other decided to register as a D and run in the general and won. My relative who works in the department said it was obvious change was needed and it seems the new guy is better. It would have been easier had there not been political parties involved, however.

(I just realized I didn’t say that they are limited to two four-year terms.)

    Good start

Those schools were terrible and this welfare program sounds like more of the same

Still amazed those schools were operating as late as 1997
    ======================

TORONTO — Canadian officials said Tuesday they have reached $31.5 billion in agreements in principle with Indigenous groups to compensate First Nations children who were unnecessarily taken from their homes and put into the child welfare system, a major development in a dispute that’s long been a sticking point in Ottawa’s efforts to advance reconciliation with Indigenous people.

Under the agreements, half of the money would go to children and families harmed by an underfunded and discriminatory child welfare system on First Nations reserves and in the Yukon, while the rest would be earmarked over five years for long-term reforms, the Indigenous services ministry said in a statement.

Final details are to be settled between the government and Indigenous advocates over the coming months. A final agreement will be submitted to a federal court and human rights tribunal for approval……

Beginning in the 19th century, roughly 150,000 Indigenous children were separated from their families — often forcibly — and sent to the government-funded, mostly church-run schools, which operated with the aim of assimilating Indigenous children. The last government-funded school closed in 1997……

Roughly 7 percent of children in Canada are Indigenous, but they make up more than 52 percent of children in foster care, according to 2016 census data.

Advocates have contended that the child welfare system is effectively a modern version of the residential school system……
