I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

Now that the Brazilian president and his aid have tested positive, and given that they were in the US six days ago, it's possible or even likely that they were infected in the US.

I would suggest people take a listen to the podcast for a lot of good information that helps us sort through the conflicting and incorrect information out there. After hearing him, it's definitely worse than what I thought. He said it will be 10 to 15 times worse than the worst flu season we've seen. Also he said the mortality rate will probably end up around 2% and could go as high as 3%. Very eye opening to say the least.

He also estimated 480,000 US deaths with around 90 million cases and around 48 million hospital admissions.

I agree. I think his inclination would be to hide it because him being infected would be the biggest case of poetic justice to the whole "it's a hoax" narrative. IMO, the bigger problem is that until this administration, there would have never been any chance that the people around a US president would even allow anyone suspected of being infected with any kind of disease would be allowed near the POTUS. It's kinda ironic that his own incompetence may be putting his own life and the life of his family in danger.

For good reason. When you have a written prepared speech that states, directly, that the European travel ban will apply to trade and goods, and it doesn’t...you deserve to get beat up over the speech.

How does this guy get air time?


The metrics on H1N1 are substantially more benign, and the virus's genome has been studied worldwide now and it's naturally occurring. Does the DPRK even have a lab that is isolating and handling bat-originated coronaviruses and them able to induce them to jump to humans? It's nonsense.

I honestly believe that trump wishes he were not president right now. This situation is proving to be the one issue that he is not able to simply lie his way out of. Reality is fighting back hard on this one.
