I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

Speaking as a heavy set man...

The fat guy in the cow suit worrying about Thanksgiving is kinda funny.

I mean, we most church's weren't able to have Easter mass / services for public. That hurt them hard financially too. But, Thanksgiving is a bridge too far? Which wasn't even brought up. We've limited all kinds of crowds and gatherings, but Halloween is sacred?

Guess what, it sucks. It all sucks. The spring sucked. No graduations sucked. No spring sports sucked. No spring play's sucked. No fall plays (maybe?) sucks. It all sucks. It will keep sucking.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mayor Lightfoot hinted that Halloween could look very different in Chicago this year.

She was asked about the city's plans Wednesday after Los Angeles said it would ban trick-or-treating.

"We are looking ahead and we've really been looking ahead at Halloween for quite some time," Lightfoot said.

While the mayor said she wasn't ready to make an announcement just yet, she said she doesn't expect Halloween in Chicago will involve large crowds of trick-or-treaters.

"It's not safe for the children, it's not safe for the adults. So we are working on plans to recognize and celebrate Halloween, which we know is an important moment for many, including the kids in my neighborhood," Lightfoot said.

Lightfoot said the city is looking at ways to celebrate Halloween in ways that are consistent with public health guidelines.

Public health officials in Los Angeles have since backed off the ban on trick-or-treating, but said they "strongly advise against it."

Yeah, 'now let's hear from a quack in a cow-suit and act like it's legitimate'.

I have been telling my wife for weeks now that the holidays are going to be very difficult for many people to deal with. Some places will have actual travel restrictions, others will be self-imposed (sensibly), but it's going to be different and it's going to really press a lot of people psychologically.

And if there's another surge going into late November, it's going to be worse. With the election happening as well, I think shirt people are going to be on edge man. I hope it's just weird and uncomfortable - and not worse than that.

It hasn't been approved by the School Board, but the Broward Schools (and sounds like Miami too) Superintendent is aiming for October 5th to start in person student learning.

I think kids will have the option to keep going virtually, but Teachers will not be allowed to teach from home.

There will be a bit of fighting, but the discussion is starting.

Here in New Orleans, we just averted disaster with Hurricane Sally taking a easterly turn toward the MS/AL Gulf Coast. I pray that those people in harms way stay safe. That being said, imagine if national weather forecasters decided to "playdown" the path and potential destruction of Hurricane Laura which hit Lake Charles and Hurricane Sally. Imagine knowing the strength of these storms and the damage it could cause and then telling the people in the path of the storm that it's simply going to go away or it's nothing more than a strong thunderstorm. That is what Trump did with Covid-19 except he did it to the entire country. And now his plan is to blame Biden for the shirtty job that trump himself has done.

Once again, if you cast your vote for this man, you are doing so simply to vote Republican.

    There is no other answer.
That or that they are caught in a cult and are willing to drink the kool-aid.
