I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

This also sounds true and it’s damning if it is
    =======================

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly, according to legendary journalist Bob Woodward in his new book "Rage."

"This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7.

In a series of interviews with Woodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known. "Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu.

Trump's admissions are in stark contrast to his frequent public comments at the time insisting that the virus was "going to disappear" and "all work out fine."

The book, using Trump's own words, depicts a President who has betrayed the public trust and the most fundamental responsibilities of his office.

In "Rage," Trump says the job of a president is "to keep our country safe." But in early February, Trump told Woodward he knew how deadly the virus was, and in March, admitted he kept that knowledge hidden from the public.

"I wanted to always play it down," Trump told Woodward on March 19, even as he had declared a national emergency over the virus days earlier. "I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic.".......

Well damn, Woodward trying to go with his finishing move.

Just watched a report on Woodward’s book, he has Trump on tape very early (Feb) saying he knows the spread of the virus is airborne and that it’s 5 times more deadly than the flu. He also said he wanted to downplay the virus to the American people to avoid a panic, in his words. Even if that’s true, and I’d bet my bottom dollar he was just trying to preserve the stock market, he still knew without any doubt and failed to do the things needed to mitigate. It’s just hard to imagine a worse outright dereliction of duty than this.

I'm curious what the spin on this story will be

Yeah that’s on tape. His words. Going to be hard to ignore.

if panic was his concern then you lend to calm reasoning for the American people to come together for a serious issue.

Not blow it off as nothing that will be gone by April

He lied repeatedly, and deliberately to us. He also tells Woodward he knows that young people can also be seriously affected, he says he heard “shocking news” and “it’s not just old people, Bob”.

This is also right in that same time frame where he was trashing the CDC and trying to act like they were the reason we were misled and late to the game.

Turns out he was the reason we were misled and late to the game, imagine that.

Donald Trump was dumb enough to give Bob Woodward permission to tape *18* interviews?
Seriously! After Woodward wrote FEAR in the first half of his presidency which was anything but complimentary to DJT, he gives him ANOTHER exclusive with recordings and all? What. A. Moron.

I guess this proves he really can't read because if he'd read FEAR, no way would he have let Woodward back in for a second helping.

I wonder if this is being reported on Fox. 🤔
