I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

As an off-topic note. If you find yourself wearing one of these frequently for that type of work, look into the RZ Masks. They are a comfortable soft fabric mask, with a replaceable filter and a pair of one-way valves to let air out. Very comfortable, and if you wear glasses (or safety glasses) you don't have to worry about them fogging up.
Thanks still burning thru a box a company I used to work for gave me when they closed up.

Will look into them when they are gone. Will be soon I am sure I will give them away to people that are wanting some masks

My boss at the time said take what you want so i loaded my truck up with all kinds great stuff. It was awesome I never have to run out for silly stuff like nuts and bolts.

Yeah - here in Nashville there is a good size music events industry and I have heard a few people discuss the problems of planning events this summer and into the fall.
Did not know there was a specific communicable disease coverage.

And i bet a TON of Agents and Brokers didnt either or did, but never suggested on the fact of " never happens".

Opens up Errors and Omissions coverage now.

There is all sorts of possible liability out there now.

Im still trying to get confirmation on "civil action" clause in business interruption - 3 carriers have yet to reply with ANY sort of definitive yes or no.

This is serious and far more than "just another flu"

Public transport has been expanded to ensure that no one is standing and there are seats enough so that no one will sit next to another (that was done 3 days ago)

Denmark more less just got shut down tonight. We had our first case less than 2 weeks ago. All schools and other places of learning (universities etc.) are shut down as are government offices and cafes, cinemas etc..

Companies are encouraged to either shut down or let people work from home - less than 30 minutes after the announcement I got at mail from my boss telling me to work from home until Easter.

The government has been very proactive and informative: We've had twice a day press conferences with the PM, ministers, police, medical experts and many others. They have set up a hotline manned mostly by medical students and retires who help answer peoples questions.

They have also cancelled all routine operations and treatments at the hospitals for the remainder of March and set up drive up testing stations at all hospitals manned also by mainly student nurses and student doctors.

Right now the number of infected stands at +600 (out of a population of 5M) of which 5 is in hospital and the rest in quarantine under supervision but 3 days ago it was less than 100 - the number has doubled every day since sunday, mostly by people returning from winter vacation in Italy.

He has exceeded my very low expectations.

That said, we’ve got catching up to do and at some point he’s going to overreact. The longer he waits the more extreme the overreaction will be.

From an immigration standpoint, the president needs to grant TPS to every non immigrant currently in the US effective when their current admission expires.

There may be a point where it is more likely that the US would be a source of spread, and we don’t need potentially infectious but asymptomatic people to feel pressured to return to countries that may have the situation under control.

I'm okay with the shutdown of passenger traffic from other countries, but why stop merchandise? The virus dies after a few hours on surfaces, so planes can arrive, allow them to sit for 1 day, and then the cargo is safe. I agree with most of the other actions Trump announced, except the payroll tax, which won't have any benefits, and will result in shortages for social security, medicare and Medicaid.

As he noted, the payroll tax relief will require congressional approval.
Also, as I understand it, the payroll tax relief would only apply to hourly workers.
    I'm salaried, so it's a non-issue for me personally.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have tested positive and are symptomatic in Australia. Also the reason the NBA suspended is because a player has tested positive.
