Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

There are some very serious criticisms of DeSantis brought up in this thread, especially concerning his tendency to trample over the Bill of Rights with his educational decrees. I wonder why those are ignored, and the BS that is the gas stove nonsense gets trumpeted?
The Bill of Rights concerns are not known by me.
I admit that I do not take the time to read much of what is posted here.
The gas stove stuff I first heard on talk radio as I was driving.
Since then there have been posts here as well.

He was smart enough to be elected twice.
He's moral enough to not be accused of infidelity or tax evasion.
I think people will like him more than Trump.

Getting elected twice is not a sign of intelligence. Reagan and Bush2 are examples of that.

His morality is questionable by way of the whole moving human beings under false pretenses.

peoplre liking him more than Trump is an extremely low bar.

    Correct.

It it’s not my job to make you feel better about being wrong all the time.

Granted, it’s also not my job to point out that you’re wrong all the time, but I like the good feeling I get when volunteering in my community.
So everyone can see how I post and how you post and then they can judge for themselves.
I'm not feeling sensitive. I just find you to an unlikable person.

Well I would like to wish you a good balance of the day/night.
I think I've had my fill of politics for today.

"Nonsense" is in the eye of the beholder. I am not sure why @Farb never gives me a like?....and if I was on a conservative board I'd get numerous likes. Conservatives would not feel my desire to keep my gas stove was nonsense. On Fox News and Newsmax they would do an excellent job of mocking some of you. Some viewpoints laid out here would be laughed at on those networks for sure. Yes, "nonsense" is in the eye of the beholder!
I TRY not to be mean spirited or a name caller. I'm not perfect...but I actually do try.
    Focusing on "respect"....
When a poster has a point and backs it up in a convincing way I am often the first one to compliment them. Isn't that true?
When I hold a position and then a poster does what I said in the previous sentence...I admit I was wrong and I thank them for their post. Isn't that also true?
So in this regard I DO give respect to those folks.
I am not so "hypersensitive. That's not the best word. I am just often unwilling to argue.
It's not worth my time. I watched on the sidelines as Farb posted again and again about something. I was agreeing with much of it yet none of you would. Farb was just wasting time.
Some of you are stuck in your ideology and you are never gonna budge. I'm often like that as well but there HAS been times when I posted: "I was wrong. That was very helpful. Thank you for your post".
    Isn't that true?
Yet there are those folks on this thread that just like to throw out hurtful words....name calling...stuff like that. (See! Ooooo. Steve's sensitive) .....I would just say that I'm not sensitive, I just don't respect them at that moment. They are not likable at that moment.
A couple of people enjoy seeking out my posts and inserting laughing emojis.
Therefore they do not have my respect....yet they are NOT seeking or caring how I feel. There goal is to be annoying to me. To mock me. If that happens often then I turn to other social media where I can have fun.
Wow! That was a long answer.

You call above some kind of answer? It's an unintelligible word salad that in no way defends your ridiculous positions.....any right wing whacko news outlet mocking me would be a compliment BTW.....

Me too. But really only when I’m being a dick on an Internet forum.

Let’s talk band sometime. I was also a band director for 14 years before I moved into admin.

I think DeSantis is insulated in FL, we don't know how he will play on a National level.

Similar to how a House member of a gerrymandered district decides to run for Senator. The playing field is bigger, the lights are brighter, the game is different, the rules are different, the scrutiny is harder (If George Santos ran for Senator, or Gov, his lies would have been exposed and become front page news PDQ)

Also, Florida Dems ran a former republican governor as their candidate. Kinda see how that would dampen enthusiasm and lower turnout

They're all quite prominent. Why do you insist on talking up a guy that you clearly have paid zero attention to?

Pennsylvania and Ohio would go for DeSantis over elderly Biden.
    Hi SteveSBrickNJ -

You mean the Pennsylvania that just moved decidedly Left during a midterm? Including flipping a senate seat? That Pennsylvania? I am going to go ahead and say doubtful,

And Ohio? Well yea, actually I could see Ohio flipping from 2020 if the little fella from FL is the nominee. But you don’t know which way it voted in 2020 obviously.

But since you only named one state that wouldn’t even be enough to flip the electoral college btw, even in your own world; he loses.

    Thanks for proving my point

    Great talking with you

Trump turned out more Republican voters in 2020 than any previous candidate. Trump has the ability to turn out the vote. DeSantis and his overt racism are not going to play well nationally.

Trump turned out more Republican voters in 2020 than any previous candidate. Trump has the ability to turn out the vote. ..............................

    Well, that's a bit misleading.

Nationwide, presidential election turnout was about 7 percentage points higher than in 2016, regardless of which of three different turnout metrics we looked at: the estimated voting-age population as of July 1, that estimate adjusted to Nov. 1, and the estimated voting-eligible population, which subtracts noncitizens and ineligible felons and adds overseas eligible citizens. Based on these measures, turnout was the highest since at least 1980, the earliest year in our analysis, and possibly much longer.

The rise in turnout was fueled in part by the bitter fight between incumbent President Donald Trump and challenger Joe Biden: A preelection survey found a record share of registered voters (83%) saying it “really matter[ed]” who won. But another big factor was the dramatic steps many states took to expand mail balloting and early voting because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Turnout rates increased in every state compared with 2016, but of the 10 states where it rose the most, seven conducted November’s vote entirely or mostly by mail, our analysis shows. Six of those states had recently adopted all-mail voting, either permanently (Utah and Hawaii) or for the 2020 elections only (California, New Jersey, Vermont and most of Montana).

I saw a discussion on TV with a former head of RNC (Steele) and a former R political activist (consultant?) whose name I didn’t catch. The gist of the consultant’s take is that he doesn’t really see any movement away from Trump among R primary voters. And they think that obviously as more potential candidates enter the primary field, that favors Trump.

We have Haley, DeSantis, probably Pompeo, probably Pence. Tim Scott is seriously thinking of running. I’m not sure who else. But if the field looks like that, then I see Trump walking away with the nomination. Not that I want to see that, I don’t. But at this point it’s a distinct possibility.

I think it's very possible that Trump is recruiting some of them to widen the field to spoil the chances for DeSantis.

I'm suspicious of Haley and Pompeo deciding to run. If Scott jumps in I'll be even more suspicious.

If Pence runs I'll think he's doing it to do some fund raising when he has a chance, to fill a political war chest for his later use. He'll get in grab some money and then get out before any voting occurs. Any of the others might be doing that too but Pence is the only one who I would not suspect Trump of recruiting to do that for him.

Yes, we are. Rs are going to stand around acting like he’s a normal person who, if nominated. they would support. Meanwhile, DeSantis didn’t take any action when his dept of education made mandatory period reporting for school girls a thing.
