Senator Warnock won in a special election to fill the remainder of Johnny Isakson's seat - which expires January 2023. This means the seat is up for election in 2022, where Warnock will run as the incumbent and the GOP field that is now led by former running back Hershel Walker, who has been enthusiastically endorsed by Donald Trump.

Or more specifically, his connection to Donald Trump. They kept him out of the state, but his stench never left.

I dunno, I'm happy to leave it at Hershel Walker. Even if Trump had never supported him, I'd like to think he would have lost either way - the idea that he's an appropriate candidate for Senate is appalling. Based purely on his own merit (lack thereof).

Without Trump, I doubt he would have made it out of the primary.

Hey, happened quick for Obama.. not watching the speech but there's a market for a guy who can give a great speech and who comes across as genuine.

This was a great ad, I thought - refreshing. So genuine, warm, and actually hit on policy points instead attacks and culture war.

When your own party doesn't vote for you
Sometimes you have to send a message to your own party. This race wasn't as consequential as the campaigns wanted us to believe and it was in everyone's best interest to reject a joke of a candidate like Walker.

Georgia isn't a blue state or even a purple state. In a generic Republican vs Democrat race, the R would win comfortably (see gov Kemp.) But the Republicans can't help but put up these awful Trumpy candidates and need to be taught a lesson--but at this point, not sure how many losses it will take to finally get it.
