    It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

    Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

    Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

    From the videos I saw, which may not reflect the entirety of the situation, the most violent thing done by protestors was pick up tear gas canisters and throw them back at police. There was a lot of milling around, a lot of recording with cell phones and a lot of name calling and chanting. One person wrote that people were openly mocking ICE and police.

    Oh, and a building had some spray paint. The fires were caused by the munitions fired into the crowd. There were elderly people present.

    This is what happens when you have idiots in charge who don’t know what they’re doing.
     
    Trump has also said that he is going to stop “rioters and looters”. Only there has been no looting and nothing like a riot either that one couldn’t argue wasn’t initiated by ICE and police’s heavy handed response.
     
    Once the National Guard is called up by the Feds they are covered by the Posse Comitatus Act, and cannot be used for law enforcement activities. 🤷‍♀️

    “Members of the National Guard are rarely covered by the Posse Comitatus Act because they usually report to their state or territory’s governor. That means they are free to participate in law enforcement if doing so is consistent with state law. However, when Guard personnel are called into federal service, or “federalized,” they become part of the federal armed forces, which means they are bound by the Posse Comitatus Act until they are returned to state control.”
     
    It’s truly looking like a huge overreaction to what actually occurred. Like amazing overreaction. I have hope this will blow up in all their faces and show everyone how stupid and dangerous they are.

    According to a Blue Sky post (with photos) Trump was out attending a UFC fight tonight. So who signed said Presidential Order? Not the dreaded auto pen, eh?
     
    Already today Trump is claiming that NG troops went in and restored order. Well, there wasn’t anything to “restore” and no troops have been deployed yet. It isn’t like he can sign an order (which there is a legit question that he even signed it in person) in the evening, troops can be deployed and have “restored order” by 2:45 in the morning when there weren’t troops already on standby. I don’t think that’s even feasible.

    I think they have overplayed their hand - which Trump seems to always do.

    There wasn’t any rioting or even real violence, there was protesting and some vandalism of property. The only violence came from ICE and whatever law enforcement was there. It’s not clear who was there which is part of the problem.

    But the complete overreach of a response, with the federalization of NG and threatening to use active duty troops should (emphasis on should) wake up the military brass. Sort of like what happened when Trump ordered peaceful protesters gassed to clear a churchyard in DC last time.
