It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

A German tourist is fighting to be released from an immigration detention center after she was denied entry at the San Diego border and taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) last month.

Jessica Brösche, a 26-year-old German tattoo artist, is being indefinitely detained by US Customs and Border Protection after she tried to enter San Diego on 25 January from Tijuana, Mexico, with her American best friend, Amelia Lofving. The two were traveling with tattoo equipment.

“I just want to get home, you know? I’m really desperate,” Brösche told ABC News 10News in a phone interview from a detention facility.

Lofving, a designer, had just moved to Los Angeleswhen she met up with Brösche in Tijuana with plans to cross the border together and travel to Los Angeles, but Brösche never made it to the city.

Brösche had her German passport, confirmation of her visa waiver to enter the country, and a copy of her return ticket back to Berlin, Lofving said. But she was still pulled aside for a secondary inspection by a US Customs and Border Protection agent.

Brösche said she then spent days detained in a cell at the San Diego border before being taken into custody by Ice. The agency brought her to the Otay Mesa detention center, where she’s now been for more than a month.

According to KPBS, US Customs and Border Protection accused Brösche of planning to violate the terms of the visa waiver program by intending to work as a tattoo artist during her time in Los Angeles.

According to ABC’s 10News, she was forced to spend eight days in solitary confinement in the facility.

“She says it was like a horror movie. They were screaming in all different rooms. After nine days, she said she went so insane that she started punching the walls and then she’s got blood on her knuckles,” Lofving said of her friend’s experience……

    Welcome to America?

^ that is exactly how Melania Trump stayed in the US illegally. Only in her case she actually did break the law, not just be accused of wanting to break the law. Musk also, IIRC.

I’d love to hear anyone who thinks this mass deportation is fine discuss this case. 8 days in solitary? A month in prison? With zero proof of unlawful behavior, only a suspicion?

I would also love to hear from people who think this administration isn’t breaking laws and norms and isn’t authoritarian or fascist.

Reply to Elon on X asking him what his lawful immigration status was when dropped out of Stanford and see how long it takes you to get banned.

“Immigration officials reportedly accused Brösche of working in the US the last time she entered the country with the ESTA program, an electronic system that determines whether someone is eligible to enter the US without a visa.

ESTAs are only intended for tourists and people are not allowed to work in the US while visiting on one. “

None of this is evidence that she was planning on working while she was here. And if it were, being thrown into solitary confinement over it is a massively disproportionate reaction.

Allegedly. This is just a classic case of officials being on a power trip.

One can only assume that Sendai thinks this is the proper response here. If he doesn’t think so, he would have probably said so, but he didn’t.

Because they think she might have worked while here on the wrong type of visa in the past, just like Musk did, just like Melania Trump did, just like countless people have done, doesn’t excuse the excessive response of throwing her in solitary confinement for 8 days and then keeping her in prison for over a month.

To think this is okay is just monstrous, really.

It’s simply additional information. Nothing more.

Well, since you thought it made a difference in some way, why don’t you explain to us what difference it makes in this situation?

Seems rather obvious. It’s a different reason for detaining her than the one previously stated. A previous violation as opposed to a potential one.

Your source says she was accused, meaning it is an accusation at this point. Unproven. Do you think it’s appropriate to hold her in solitary confinement for 8 days, and in prison for over a month considering the charges?

This isn’t okay. It’s not giving her due process. You should know that.

“According to the ICE Detainee Locator, Brösche is currently in the Otay Mesa Detention Facility, in San Diego County, while she awaits deportation. CNN reached out to both ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to ask why she was detained.

A spokesperson from CBP told CNN affiliate KGTV that if a foreign national denied admission to the US is unable to book travel back to their country of origin “he or she will be turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a statement to KGTV, an ICE spokesperson wrote that Brösche is in detention due “to the violation of the terms and conditions of her admission.”

“Her detainment included a 'horrible' eight days in solitary confinement, she added.

However, the company that owns the detention center - CoreCivic - told the outlet Brösche 'was not in any kind of restrictive housing for eight days.”

seems likely there is a long list of deportees ahead of her. Her turn will come.

So Musk and Melania Trump get fast tracked to citizenship after doing the exact same thing, and this poor girl gets put in prison for over a month and you are just fine with that?

She should have just been denied entry, and that’s the end of it. What is the point of adding her into this horrible system when they could have just turned her away?

She is enduring prison for over a month for basically nothing.

A congressional hearing designed to criticize sanctuary city policies unexpectedly shifted on Wednesday, as a planned attack by Republicanlawmakers instead dissolved into a platform that amplified Democratic mayors’ arguments about immigration and urban safety.

Before a packed room on Capitol Hill, the House oversight committee, led by its Republican chair, James Comer of Kentucky, sought to portray sanctuary cities – a city that touts municipal laws that protect undocumented migrants – as havens for criminal activity and foreign gangs.

“The point that we’ve got to iron out today is that we have to have cooperation with federal law to turn over those illegal criminals to Ice and we’ve heard reports and many of you have said publicly that you are going to obstruct that,” Comer said. “That is against the law. And we’re going to hear more about that today.”

But instead of cornering the mayors, Republican lawmakers seemed to inadvertently provide them a national megaphone to sell their approaches to local governance and immigration.

“If you wanted to make us safe, pass gun reforms,” Boston mayor Michelle Wu said. “Stop cutting Medicaid. Stop cutting cancer research. Stop cutting funds for veterans. That is what will make our cities safe.”

Along with Wu, Mayors Eric Adams of New York, Brandon Johnson of Chicago, and Mike Johnston of Denver were put at the center of the national debate about local governance, immigration enforcement and the balance between federal mandates and municipal discretion.

In opening statements, each mayor offered a defense of their sanctuary policies. Adams emphasized that such classifications do not shield criminals, but instead ensure immigrant communities can trust local authorities.

Johnson argued that welcoming city ordinances do not impede criminal investigations, while Johnston framed the issue through a moral lens of humanitarian responsibility.

Wu, who brought her one-month old infant, said it was the Trump administration’s over-the-top tactics that jeopardized safety for Americans – and that the border czar, Tom Homan, should be the one that should face Congress.

“This federal administration is making hard-working, tax-paying, God-fearing residents afraid to live their lives,” Wu said. “A city that’s scared is not a city that’s safe, a land ruled by fear is not the land of the free.”

The hearing took a turn when Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina demanded mayors answer inflammatory yes-or-no questions, including whether they “hated President Trump more than they loved their country”.…….

Not to mention that companies always tell the truth.

    FYI to the MAGA bros...

Elon violated the terms and conditions of his admission when he dropped out of Sandford in 1995.

He also committed fraud when he lied about that on his form I-485 a few years later.

I don't mean to laugh....oh wait, I am and I do! LOL. Guns blazing! no questions asked. Just guns blazing.

Because, like I said, I was a Trump supporter,” he said. “I voted for Trump last election, but, because I thought it was going to be the things, you know, like, … just go against criminals, not every Hispanic looking, like, that they will assume that we are all illegals.”

“That’s what they’re doing, now,” Machado said. “They’re just following Hispanic people.”

    Also, unmarked cars. Geeze.

A woman has lost her job after writing on a receipt, “I hope Trump Deports you”, after dining at a Mexican restaurant.

In US president Donald Trump’s initial weeks in office, he ordered mass deportations of undocumented migrants, and it seems some are using it to hassle people in their place of work.

On 2 March, real estate agent Stephanie Lovins had a meal at Cazuelas Mexican Cantina in Columbus, Ohio. But, when the bill arrived at the end, rather than leave a tip, Lovins instead wrote a nasty message on the receipt for the waiter who had been serving her – a US citizen – after she reportedly grew upset about the restaurant’s “one coupon per table” policy.

She wrote, “I hope Trump deports you!!!” and also added in the tip section: “Zero, You blow.”

Lovins attempted to disguise that it was her by scribbling out her name on the receipt, but it was still visible on the merchant copy, which was posted by a restaurant employee on Facebook, with the caption: “Yall hate us but love our food. Shame on you, Stephanie, for not saying it with your chest.”

When the post went viral, Lovins tried to deny any involvement, claiming on LinkedIn and Facebook that her card had been stolen.

“My credit card was lost/stolen, and someone attempted to use it. Thanks for the notifications! This has been reported through my bank,” she claimed on Facebook.

Lovins said on LinkedIn: “Thank you for all the recent notifications of scammers and profile hackers! I recently discovered a lost/missing credit card and an attempted use/purchase. I appreciate your patience while I manage the situation.”

Her claims, however, were revealed to be false after the restaurant reviewed its CCTV footage and confirmed that it was she who had dined there............
