Interesting if true. I would have gone with Kelly, but that’s just me.

I wasn't aware Minneapolis "burned to the ground"... but if so, that was a great job of rebuilding the city, and in only 4 years. Look how great it looks today:

I'm not sure what that means in terms of my previous response.
I didn't really respond well to your previous post. I think you'll find people from all ends of the spectrum trying to put people in their place, but it tends to be the extremists (purists) that are most vocal, and I think they are less tactical. They'll vote Libertarian, Green, Patriot, etc, which helps the other major party candidate that would be worse for their interests, rather than voting for a major party candidate that gets them some of their wishes. Without Ranked Choice, that is non-tactical. I think you were making the opposite point. On the other hand, moderates may be less apt to vote at all, but that's not due to not being tactical, but rather apathy.

Yes, that certainly happens as well, like it did in 2016. What's frustrating is that what the moderates/independents want and what the purist progressive want is often the opposite of what the other wants. And they both get into their feels if they don't get what they want. Either by being apathetic or voting 3rd party, even if it hurts the better choice. So it's almost impossible for Democrats to win with both groups at the same time.

What I don't get is why moderates/independents don't view purist conservatives/MAGA (of which there are more than purist progressives) the same way they view the purist progressive. Those purist conservatives/MAGA don't really act tactically either. Trump's pick of Vance certainly wasn't tactical to draw in more moderate/independent voters. What they fully depend on this the moderate/independent apathy or rejection of Democrats for the slightest misstep (in their eyes) and fleeing to Republicans.

MAGA is just shrieking about the riots in MN, and lying about Minneapolis being ‘burned to the ground’. They got nothing really. And even local stations in red states are fact checking their lies.

"Facts, snacks. Doesn't matter..."

I just read this letter to the editor of the NY Times, and I love it. I think it is genius, and I hope it takes off:

"I am excited that it’s Tim Walz. The guy has injected humor into the campaign, and the slogan should now be: MALA — Make America Laugh Again.

It’s a triple entendre: 1) It counters the evil attack on Kamala Harris’s laugh; 2) goes with her name, KaMALA; and 3) acknowledges the huge relief we are all feeling and gives permission to laugh at the nonsense we’ve been fed and are fighting.

Sherwood, Ore."

Edit: Doh! I can't believe I didn't realize that MALA means bad in Spanish, so forget using MALA as the moto. I still think it was clever, but the Spanish community won't like that. It reminds me of the car named Nova, which means won't go.

So the MAGA morons are doubling down on the misogyny to go along with their racism and sexism by berating Walz for...........

Wait for it.............

for advocating for free Tampons in public schools?

I can understand that the southern strategy by way of insulting women, blacks, and other historically-oppressed minorities plays to the base, and RAGING AGAINST THE WOKE PEOPLE, but considering how a younger candidate who happens to be a woman of color has galvanized Democratic voters, esp. young people and women, this kind of rhetoric will eventually have diminishing returns--and in fact, may backfire.

I guess we're going to be subjected to the culture wars in lieu of discussion of substantive policy?
