Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

It probably won't happen, but I'd like to see Trump run as an independent. That would all but ensure Biden
4 more year. Trump is narcissistic enough to do this. The good news there was no giant red wave as
predicted and it looks like Trump will be disappearing . That's good news for all of us.
Seems like just the sort of thing he'd do. He doesn't give a shirt about the Republican party, if he feels they've betrayed him he'll want to burn them to the ground.

I think it's very possible that we see Trump start a MAGA party. If for no other reason that to continue to grift his supporters.

    I can already see it.

Declare there to be such a thing as the MAGA party.
Accept all the donations from MAGAts.
Travel the country giving speeches for big fees.
Stiff the affected cities RE: police and infrastructure costs
Never bother to get on the actual ballot in 2024.
    Don't give a dime back.
    Delay, delay, delay...

Republicans who say the Donald Trump era is over and the Ron DeSantis era has begun are guilty of magical thinking. Trump

is never, ever going to voluntarily release his grip on your party.

Nor will his followers simply extricate themselves from a movement that’s more cult than political party. If you want the GOP back, you’re going to have to take it from Trump and accept that it’s going to be ugly.

Rupert Murdoch’s media empire can’t do the job for you, hard as it might try. The change in tone since Tuesday’s election is striking. Fox News analysts have presented the results as disastrous for the GOP.

Thursday’s Wall Street Journal ran one editorial blaming Trump for making the party nominate unelectable candidates, another headlined “Trump Is the Republican Party’s Biggest Loser,” and a column by GOP eminence grise Karl Rove titled: “With No Red Wave, Trump Is Out at Sea.”

The New York Post, channeling the right-wing id, was even more aggressive in its Trump-bashing, with a front-page illustration of “Trumpty Dumpty” having a great fall.

And in all of Murdoch’s outlets, there is over-the-top praise of newly reelected Florida Gov. DeSantis as the GOP’s supposed new savior…..

The obvious step for the Republican Party, given the abundant evidence, is to dump Trump. But a few tough editorials won’t even loosen his grip on his followers, much less send him slinking into retirement.

After all, a key tenet of Trumpworld is that anything that goes wrong is always somebody else’s fault.

“For those many people that are being fed the fake narrative from the corrupt media that I am Angry about the Midterms, don’t believe it,” he posted on TruthSocial. “I am not at all angry, did a great job (I wasn’t the one running!), and am very busy looking into the future. Remember, I am a ‘Stable Genius.’ ”

Also recall that this is hardly the first time the GOP establishment has lined up against him. It happened in 2016, when he was winning the presidential nomination. It happened again in 2021, after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

The score thus far is Trump 2, Establishment 0.

Trump won those fights because he had the support of the Republican base, and even managed to turn some establishment Republicans into the enemy……

People can be fickle. Even though Trump has had support for years....fickle people can abandon him now. They can! So...
You've posted so much....but I think it can be simple. Trump will not be the GOP nominee in Nov. of 2024. Yet he will naturally be bitter about that. He just might form his own party (the MAGA Party?) and run as an independent. If on the November 2024 ballot Trump and DeSantis were both options...well that would be disastrous for those of us who hate Trump but also are unhappy under Biden.

So this is what he’s saying this evening - that he (and Sen. Scott) ordered the FBI and DOJ to intervene in the 2018 Florida governor election??

That’s a state-run operation for a state governor position. What the hell is he talking about?

Wow, either he is just making this stuff up, or something fishy went on for that election in 2018. Of course I mean from the Republican side, and Trump is now confessing.

Lol, he's forked with the DeSantis thing and he sort of knows it and doesn't know what to do now imo.. none of the shirt he's saying or will say here is actually going to land and it's only going to serve to make Trump look desperate and ridiculous while DeSantis plays it cool and in the process makes it easier for holdouts to move on to someone who they'll see as a natural heir to the MAGA movement that now transcends Trump himself.

This shirt can work when your supporters view the one you're attacking as an enemy but when they don't it's entirely different.

FBI paging Rick Scott. Rick before we begin, you've already plead the 5th on the largest ever Medicare Medicaid fraud. Would you like to start with another 5th before we ask if what trump said is true?

I personally think he's lying but I won't put fraud or illegalities past him or Scott.

You know Trump has dirt on all of these people regardless of whether or not this in particular is true and so I view this as a test by him of Scott to see where loyalties lie and he'll go from there.

Or it could be one of those things in the middle where he made a call to DOJ and they were like "Sure we'll look into it" and then hung up the phone and laughed.

DeSantis wins by 32K votes so Trump naturally takes credit for it and spins it into some story where but for his intervention DeSantis would have lost - but no such intervention happened and Trump is just a raging narcissist dumb-arse that he actually believes it's true.
