    Ok the rules:
    • Your post can only contain one department and guess.
    • You may post more than once for different departments.
    • Post can contain comments about previous guesses.
    • Guesses for one department can be used for other departments.
    • Minds can, of course, be changed.
I will kick things off first...

    Secretary of State: Susan Rice

This is as clear a choice as there can be. She has all of the credentials and rep to begin healing as relationships with our allies.

Biden is going to have to throw a bone to progressives somewhere for sticking with him. If not at Labor, where can his be done?

Warren is the easier pick. The state senate has a democrat super majority. They can legislate that the Republican governor must pick a Democrat. This won't matter if they lose either seat in GA.

    It's official.

President-elect Joe Biden on Monday formally announced the names of his intended national security team as he moves forward with the transition process amid continued efforts by President Trump to deny the results of the election.

Biden released a spate of announcements Monday afternoon, including his intention to nominate Antony Blinken, a longtime foreign policy adviser, to serve as secretary of State.

He also announced his plans to tap Alejandro Mayorkas to serve as Homeland Security secretary; Avril Haines to be director of national intelligence; and Linda Thomas-Greenfield to serve as the ambassador to the United Nations.

I don't think the legislature decides who can be appointed. I think governorship appointments are similar presidential appointments, so the legislature may be able to put up roadblocks, but the governor ultimately appoints. If a senator is picked from any state, it needs to be from a state that will definitely appoint and then elect another democrat. Massachusetts is odd, because they often elect moderate Republicans, which would be normally be great, but I want to unseat McConnell, because he will try to block everything.

Competency and Experience are the two major legs Biden ran on.

Yeah, it's such a low bar when running on that gives you a real advantage. You would think those are two givens on both sides. But with Trump, those things matter less than nepotism and making your friends happy.

FWIW, I heard reporters say they were interpreting it as a response to the Yellen announcement.
