Folks, the Lincoln Project has nothing to do with the Biden Transition. The post-election analysis thread may be the better place for that. However, it also has gotten far too contentious, so I warn you against repeating that type of posting.

I'm deleting out the conversation from here. Keep it out.

To add. I know why the discussion started, and it had a fair enough point - I added a mod edit note. Normally, I'd be more surgical in the clean up and keep up a lot of the good posts and just cut out the fat, so to speak. However, there were just far too many posts to deal with, so they all went.

If he has to be confirmed, he'll be "acting" AG forever.
McConnell will see to it.
If I'm Biden, I not even trying to seek Senate confirmations, I'll just roll with "acting" cabinet secretaries my entire term. They have already set the precedent.

If I understand correctly, the powers of "acting" directors or secretaries have are more limited, so Biden is better off having a fully installed and confirmed cabinet. I suspect he'll get most of his picks. The Garland for AG is gonna be fun if Biden picks him. I'm curious to see how far McConnell goes with it because if the balance is only 1 or 2 difference, you only need 2-3 Senators to flip.

We'll see.

From what I've seen thus far, they seem to be able to do whatever Dear Leader wants them to do. Either way, I was just joking with that statement but, if I were POTUS, I would definitely put trump to shame with my abuses of power because the majority of my leadership skills are attributed to my 20+ years of military service, which is a long way of saying that I am an butt crevasse.

So Biden has made his pick for Treasury to be announced as early a next week. My choice would be Yellen...

Yeah, Yellen seems like the best of the bunch. Warren would be my last choice. The other 3 are far more experienced and I think any of those 3 would be solid choices. There are other positions Warren would be a better fit imo.
