I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

Honestly? In my lifetime, I have watched so many politicians be given a free pass for things of this nature that I found it utterly ridiculous that so much time and effort was put into Russia Collusion and Ukraine Impeachment.

As the decades have passed and more and more things have come to light and been declassified, I've found presidents who were touted as righteous, virtuous and honest were anything but that. The president who I was taught to admire as a virtuous good guy family man turned out to be a whore monger who screwed around with actresses and mob bosses' girlfriends while in office.

After covering Louisiana elections in the 1980s, I reached the conclusion that our system is such that only the most cutthroat, vicious and ruthless person climbs to the top of the political pile. Dave Treen was the most honest, intelligent politician I ever met and Edwin Edwards was the most charismatic I ever met. Edward was the better governor by far, even if he did call me a bald faced liar in front of the Jackson Parish Chamber of Commerce. :hihi:

On rare occasions, the public will actually vote a truly righteous, honest and virtuous man into the White House. Jimmy Carter was the example in my lifetime, and we all know how well that worked out, don't we?

    Stay safe, NE.

Your defense is that other politicians have done terrible things, therefore we should ignore all terrible things done by other politicians going forward?

Name 3 politicians that were given a pass for suspected collusion with our top enemy or verified bribing of foreign governments to open up fake investigations into their political opponent and then lying about it and blocking investigations into it.
You're either being untruthful or you think people actually believe anything that you post. You're not trump and we're not you. We don't simply believe something that you say. Name the politicians and the offense or just stop being untruthful.

    Oh snap, you go girl!

I mean, as long as we are bringing back "quips" teenage girls used back in the 90's.

    You're homphobia is showing....again....

I think one good thing about these press briefings is that the not only is the nation getting to see President Trump and his mastery of this crisis, but we are also getting to see that Mike Pence is up for the challenges that await him when Trump turns over the keys to the kingdom in January 2005.

Wow, now Trump supporters are re-writing history.....

Many many many of those same people said that the coronavirus was a bogus issue and it was basically just a cold or the flu and that this was a creation of the Democrats and media to go after Trump.

Trump's followers will essentially parrot what he says about such things which is why he did so much damage in this instance.

Brandon, I am not talk to you persoanlly as much as I am everyone as a collective whole.

Actually.. Most Trump supporters sit back and watch, take in the facts and actions of others and then make their own decisions.

So we have had three years of Democrats doing nothing but griping and whining... one bogus investigation after another.

    Stormy Daniels
    Mueller and Russian Collusion
    Ukrainegate
    Impeachment
    Kavanaugh and High School yearbooks.
Trying to slip in items on the Virus Relief package

Nothing but griping and whining about Trump.. and what do they offer? A Candidate on the verge of Dementia.

So the bottom line is this... If you support the democrats and democratic party... and all they offer is Joe Biden... Then the problem is the Democrats and the Democratic Party and Not Trump.. So everyone can stop their whining. It's not Trump supporters fault the Democrats don't have a decent Candidate.

You're sharing lies based on your life experience. There has never been any political figures in US history that were under the suspicion of collusion with our enemy to win an election. There has never been a president that tried to bribe a foreign government to open an fake investigation into their political opponent. Anyone claiming to have seen politicians given a pass for doing those things is not being truthful.

Like I said earlier, I'd vote for Pence if I could to get Trump out of office. I don't like the Democrats and I don't like Mike Pence but I'll gladly take either over Trump.

Actually, you are making the bizzare leap that criticizing your use of a "quip" used by teenage girls somehow equates to criticizing or fear of homosexuals.

Everyone is a victim in identity politics- unless you get diddled by Biden.

By all means, please share your life experience regarding the honesty of politicians.
My life experience with politicians have shown numerous local and national figures be charge with and convicted of the crimes they committed. My life experience does not show any politicians being accused of attempted bribery of a foreign government's president in order to start a fake investigation against a political opponent and it doesn't show a politician suspected of colluding with a foreign power to win an election.

I'm not defending anything. I'm sharing knowledge based on my life experiences. You want proof? Go look it up yourself.

    Here we go again!

Can't defend my beliefs therefore you have to disprove them game again.

I enjoy how much you act like a child on here.

Debate is about defending your stance.

This is taking my ball and going home cuz you can't play well with others.

Now you want us to go outside your house and beg you to come out to play?

Nope you have played this game here forever.

I personally would love someone to vote for. I am on the fence about Trump, although the strange 'birther' style of hate coming from the left is not helping at all, the same way it helped me vote for a democrat not too long ago.
The democrats are too progressive for me at this point and the only candidates they have to battle trump is an old communist that have never held a private job without public assistance and a person that, IMO, is closer to the nursing home than the white house.

For the record, you were responding to this question:

"How can you accept turning the other way when there was questionable behavior from the WH?"

Offering up your views on how dirty politicians were before this point in time is a response to someone asking you how you accept the current corruption in the White House.

DD, do you or do you not think it justifiable to allow corruption to continue unchecked because people were corrupt in the past?

I've seen plenty of examples politicians colluding with foreign powers to protect their interests overseas.

You might want to look up how much money US soldiers were fined for damaging each rubber tree in the Michelin plantation during the War in Vietnam. See, the fines were imposed at the behest of politicians who owned Michelin stock . . . congressmen and such . . . I believe at least one vice president was also named in that little scandal.

Now, let's revisit what I said that made you call me a liar:

I have watched so many politicians be given a free pass for things of this nature

I believe the people who are making the accusations are just as dirty or dirtier than the people they're accusing.

The accusers provided a brilliant example in the Kavanaugh hearing. They were far, far worse than the guy they were accusing.

See, I view all of them as crooks and snakes, Democrat and Republican alike. Nobody has a moral high ground.

To answer your question, I think before anybody accuses anybody else, they should clean up their own act.

So your position is that dirty politicians should only be held accountable by clean politicians?

I don't see what's so hard about both sides admitting that their respective nominee has sexually assaulted someone.

That doesn't automatically make one or both political aspirations void.
