It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

According to his lawyer, the deportation order was withheld in 2007 and he was allowed to legally remain and work in the US.
And according to what I have read multiple times, DHS is just going into the system and changing people’s status without informing them.

So let me get this straight — the U.S. through this prisoner swap is sending Venezuelans who fled persecution and were granted protection under international refugee laws… back to the very regime they fled from? As part of a prisoner swap? That’s not just a diplomatic twist — it’s a human rights betrayal.
Venezuela refuses to accept deportees.

Deportees end up in Cecot.

Venezuela decides it wants deportees.

US gets 10 citizen being held in Venezuela.

Interesting twist.

I’m betting the deportees prefer Venezuela over Cecot.

There wasn’t any status change. There is a deportation order with a withholding from deporting to Iran. So the target deportation destination is now Australia or Romania.

You seem to conveniently overlook the fact that U.S. courts have ruled that many of these individuals cannot be deported to Venezuela due to credible fears for their lives.

So what exactly are you proposing — that a refugee should either face death in CECOT or be sent back to the country they fled in fear of persecution or execution?

Both options violate international law and basic human decency. These aren’t abstract policy debates — we’re talking about real people, many of whom are seeking protection under internationally recognized refugee conventions.

Your attitude suggests that the rights and lives of certain groups simply don’t matter — that some people are “less worthy” of safety and justice. That’s a dangerous and dehumanizing mindset.

Try to imagine this: You flee your country in fear for your life. You make it to safety, only to be told that you’re being deported — back to the regime you escaped. Or worse, to a prison like CECOT, or a remote country where abuse, slavery, or torture are well documented.

This is not just cruel. It’s illegal — and it's morally indefensible.

I didn’t propose anything. Simply an observation on how things unfolded. An interesting twist. Nothing more.

I wasn’t talking about this case specifically. I was mentioning that DHS has been changing people’s status without informing them. It was reported widely.

An additional twist

“The move was part of a prisoner swap in which the Venezuelan government released "a considerable number of Venezuelan political prisoners ... as well as all the American citizens it was holding as hostages," Bukele said, in exchange for the Venezuelan nationals who had been imprisoned in El Salvador.”

So political prisoners were also released by Venezuela.

There’s that fevered mind again.
You can say that all you want. I definitely see through you. And I’m not the only one who does, but I am the only one who you insult with this particular slur. It’s rooted in misogyny, but then you know that. Even if you claim you didn’t know, it has been pointed out to you and yet you still use it.

Plausible deniability is a crappy way to post. You do yourself and all of us a disservice when you do this.

Well, this pretty much shows that ice is rounding up anyone with a deportation order.
They've "rounded up" several US citizens and several people still going through the immigration process. They are "rounding up" a lot more people than just the ones who have deportation orders.

It's immoral to defend what Trump and the Republicans are doing.

It's immoral to "round up" anyone who has lived here for years and have been good neighbors and friends, just because they have a deportation order. I have yet to hear of a mass "round up" of the thousands of Europeans living here who also have deportation orders. Trump and his Republicans are doing what they are doing out of hate and rabid pursuit of power. They are not doing it to follow or enforce the law.
