It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

    1930-1939 - 11
    1940-1949 - 31
    1950-1959 - 6
    1960-1969 - 39
    1970-1979 - 34
    1980-1989 - 25
    1990-1999 - 23

As usual your response is completely devoid of context.

Go look up how many times these decisions overturning precedent granted rights to people and how many times they removed rights from people and then get back to us.

I honestly don’t know what you think you are accomplishing with these posts.

They decided to deport him, even though he had lived here legally since he fled Castro at the age of 16. He had 2 arrests for minor controlled substance charges - over 40 years ago - which seems to have been the basis for their decision to deport him.

But once again - rather than doing it the correct way they have chosen to pick him up and throw him in prison immediately. Without any due process and before they had a removal order.

People need to go to jail over this. It’s deliberately lawless. From the article above:

‘Miller recently berated ICE officials for lagging deportation numbers, demanding that they round up more migrants in Home Depot parking lots, which by definition targets people who are merely here to work. And The Washington Postreports that to prosecute the wrongfully deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia for smuggling migrants, the Trump administration is releasing from prison a three-time felon who “drunkenly fired shots in a Texas community,” sparing him deportation to secure his cooperation as a witness.

That move literally releases into the United States a far more serious and dangerous criminal to target a far less serious offender, simply because Trump and Miller insist Abrego Garcia must be convicted of something, to sustain their propaganda narrative that all migrants are criminals.’

If only Cubans in Florida cared as much as you do. The latest in Miami is that the Republican mayor and city council are illegally postponing elections for one year in violation of the city charter. Republicans will do any dirty trick they can to get and keep power once they're given it.

The context is the Supreme Court has no problem with overturning precedent. Yet, currently not so much.

You have no clue as to the vast, vast variety of legal issues in these cases. But the cases are there for you review.

There are dam few civil rights cases involved.

They come across as partisan hacks:

    1. Overturn Abortion despite most of them lying under oath saying they would not.
    2. Running the clock out in the Cannon federal records case
    3. Overturning national injuctions on a clearly unconstituional case about birthright citizenship
    4. Denying studen loan relief as it doesn't fit under national emergency power from the pandemic. When viewed against what's being allowed now, jesus.

Just so we are clear, most of these Justices have given ample reason to impeach them if Dems ever had 60 senate seats. I would love to see the conserative majority answer what happened on overturning Roe, and how their prior statements are not perjury. Also, why did they delay federal records case?

I'll edit to add this: The flag flying upside down from Alito, and his probably leaking of the Dobbs decision.

I'm suprised they don't speak at CPAC.

You are the one without a clue. You just reflexively defend what ever the conservative majority wants to do, I suspect because you want them to do it.

They will overturn - at least partially - birthright citizenship. What will you say then? You will defend them because you want it overturned.

I mean, good grief, they made up immunity for the president out of whole cloth. Nothing in the constitution supports that. They are just nakedly partisan.

Alito quoted a judge from England who believed in witches to support overturning Roe. He’s a despicable bigoted man who should have never been appointed. Same with Thomas, who famously wants to overturn gay marriage and the right to get birth control. Rank misogynists, both of them.

I will never understand how some men can support other men who are this way. I don’t understand hatred of women that seems to be on the rise everywhere in this country.

More partial truths with the intention of deceiving. That is a list of individual decisions that were overruled. It is not a list of times that Supreme court overturned decades of precedent. You know that, because it was right there in big bold letters at the top of your source of your own source:

You also know that there's a significant difference between overruling a decision and overturning decades of precedent.

Nothing you say is simple, honest truth. It's either completely false or a intentionally deceptive partial truth. And you never actually engage in a discussion. You do drive by posts that are dishonest and clearly met to agitate and decieve, you never engage in an actual discussion with those who reply to your posts, and rarely even respond at all to people who reply to your posts.

That's the very definition of trolling.

You're falling for Sendai's deception. It's not a list of the overturning of precedent. It's just a list of individual case decisions that were overruled. An overruling of a decision is not the same thing as the overturning of precedent. Some of them could also be overturning of precedent, but not all of them are so their list does not justify their false assertion, and they know that.

Everyone who doesn’t oppose this pogrom - this is who you have allied yourself with. This soulless ghoul who is on Putin’s payroll is your ally. Doesn’t that make you proud?

    Guess I'll put this here:

The Trump administration opened the door on Monday to formally examining Zohran Mamdani’s US citizenship — part of a growing effort to target the immigration status of a wide range of individuals.

Democrats rallied behind the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor over the weekend, after Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles urged the Trump administration to consider revoking Mamdani’s citizenship. That intraparty support for Mamdani, who has been a naturalized citizen since 2018, grew after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about the idea and didn’t say no.

Sounds like WAZE but for ICE agents instead of traffic
    ===========

A nationwide spike in immigration enforcement actions under Donald Trump’s administration has been met with a surge in social media activity organizing against them.

Grassroots efforts on social media platforms are sharing legal information and alerting users to real-time locations of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in neighborhoods across the country.

But one developer has built a tool to specifically alert users to ICE’s whereabouts, adding to a growing patchwork of social media-driven, real-time alerts on the state of Trump’s anti-immigration footprint.

More than 20,000 users are on ICEBlock, an anonymous crowd-sourced app that lets users report real-time ICE activity within a five-mile radius.……

And I think it has more to do with Mamdani's political views and support, than it has to do with his citizenship status. This is about trying to crush opposition and dissent, and overthrowing elected representatives they don't like.

The way Trump's executive order is worded, they can say that someone is not a legal citizen, because their first ancestors that moved here generations ago were not legal, so none of their descendants are legal citizens. That can be done to all of us, even those that were here before the European immigrants first arrived on this continent.

They'll try to develop precedent by going after the most vulnerable, so they can get away with it, but they will turn it on any of us that stand against them. The Supreme Court has given them the green light to deport anyone to anywhere, even if it's to their certain torture and/or death.

The way Fox and other right wing sources are bleating about it - you would think ICE agents are being injured all the time. They are using % to make it sound way worse than it really is. Assaults went from 10 to 79, but a nearly 700% increase sounds so much worse. Especially since they don’t have to factor in the heightened activity level - especially in peaceful neighborhoods targeting people who have been part of the communities for years or decades and been law-abiding upright citizens and small business owners and operators. Nor do they factor in the lack of identification and wearing masks that ICE has adopted, making people unsure if they are really federal agents or vigilantes. Also, they don’t specify when a person tries to defend themselves against masked unidentified assailants are they counting that as an assault? I’m betting they are.

Your context is false and you know it. That is a list of overturned rulings, not overturned precedent. An overturned ruling is not the same as overturned precedent, and you know that.
It’s a list of Supreme Court rulings that overturn previous Supreme Court rulings and those previous Supreme Court rulings are precedent.

They won’t overturn birthright citizenship. And if they do I won’t defend it under any circumstances. The amendment is clear.
