It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

A uniformed U.S. Army veteran has provoked anger among MAGA conservatives by joining a protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Dallas, Texas, on Monday.

In a viral video recorded at the event, the soldier does not hold back in her criticism of President Donald Trump for activating 4,000 members of the National Guard and 700 Marines to help police the anti-ICE demonstrations that have raged in Los Angelesfor five days and have since spread to other major American cities.

“We are not pawns for Donald Trump’s agenda,” the woman, wearing a camouflage uniform bearing the name tag “Colado,” says in the video shared by left-leaning X account BreakThrough News…….

I had Grok do a deep look in to this and details of her service. Grok's analysis is long and detailed but the quick look is she's not in trouble with the Army, specifically the Texas National Guard, her service has ended 5 years ago.

I agree after reviewing about five pages of Grok's report. Another detail which I found to be well covered in the report was what she might have faced had she been currently serving in the military:

Evaluation of Potential Military Law Violations
  1. Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) Article 88 - Contempt Toward Officials
    • Relevant Text: Article 88 prohibits commissioned officers from using contemptuous words against the President, Vice President, Congress, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of a military department, or a Governor or legislature.
    • Analysis: The woman's statement, "We are not pawns for Donald Trump's agenda," could be interpreted as contemptuous toward the President, who is also the Commander-in-Chief. This statement, made publicly and in uniform, may violate Article 88 if she is an active-duty commissioned officer.
  2. DoD Directive 1344.10 - Political Activities by Members of the Armed Forces
    • Relevant Text: This directive restricts active-duty military members from participating in partisan political activities, including protests, while in uniform or on duty.
    • Analysis: The woman is visibly in uniform and actively participating in a protest, which appears to be a partisan political activity. This action likely violates DoD Directive 1344.10, as it involves taking a public stance against the policies of the current administration.
  3. DoD Directive 1325.06 - Guidelines for Handling Dissident and Protest Activities Among Members of the Armed Forces
    • Relevant Text: This directive outlines restrictions on military personnel attending off-base demonstrations, especially if the activity is likely to result in violence or is a breach of law and order.
    • Analysis: The protest setting and her active participation suggest a potential violation of this directive, particularly if the protest could be deemed a breach of law and order or likely to result in violence.
  4. UCMJ Article 92 - Failure to Obey Order or Regulation
    • Relevant Text: Article 92 covers the failure to obey a lawful general order or regulation.
    • Analysis: By participating in the protest in uniform, she may be failing to obey the regulations outlined in DoD Directive 1344.10 and 1325.06, which could be considered a violation of Article 92.
  5. UCMJ Article 134 - General Article
    • Relevant Text: Article 134 covers conduct that is prejudicial to good order and discipline or of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces.
    • Analysis: Her actions, if deemed to discredit the military or disrupt good order and discipline, could fall under Article 134. Publicly opposing the Commander-in-Chief's decisions in uniform at a protest could be seen as bringing discredit to the armed forces.

I wonder if things will reach a point of something like the Boston Massacre
The Trump administration is testing we the people. It's gravely important that we the people pass this test.

I think the Trump administration is trying a similar tactic to what the empire used in Ghorman in season 2 episode 8 of Andor. I'm not referencing, because it's Star Wars. I reference it, because it's spot on in the tactics tyrants use to trick people into supporting their tyranny. People want to be free and will not knowingly surrender their freedom, so they have to be tricked into surrendering their freedom.

The tactic tries to create a win-win scenario for the tyrants. They are trying to seize more tyrannical control. If no one stops them, then they win and it makes it easier for them to seize more and more tyrannical control. They won't stop unless someone physically stops them. They won't honor any court rulings or Congressional actions.

If someone tries to physically stop them, then a massacre is highly likely and it will be used by the Trump administration to scare enough of the population to trick the population into surrendering their freedom for "law and order" and "security." That will make it easier for them to seize more tyrannical power.

Our best hope and what we need the most is for military leadership to have the courage to disobey illegal orders. That's an iffy proposition based on military history.

I live in Los Angeles for those who didn't know that. The "uprising" is a lie. The "insurrection" is a lie. The protest has been limited to about a 4 block area in downtown Los Angeles. Most of the protesters are peaceful and only using their voices to protest. That's a constitutional right. A lot of the protesters have been cleaning up the damage done by the jerks and it's not their property that they are cleaning up. Everything in the rest of Los Angeles is ordinary.

In January, just a few months ago, Los Angeles suffered 100's time more destruction from wildfires. The Trump administration did very little to help the people who have needed help. Instead, the Trump administration exploited the tragedy and suffering for political and personal gain. The Trump administration isn't try to save Los Angeles or California. They are trying to make an example out of Los Angeles and California, and they're trying to force LA and CA to kneel before them, because Los Angeles and California are two of the most powerful protectors against the tyrannical plans of the the Trump administration and all those who support and enable him while hidden in the shadows. That's especially true of the California National Guard.

I've had friends and family texting and emailing me to see if I'm safe from the "uprising" in Los Angeles. They literally used the word "uprising." That got my attention. I told them the truth to dispel the lies. They all believe me. Not coincidentally, they all are avid FOX news watchers and readers. I want to emphasize that they are believing me over FOX news. They are only doing that, because they know me and know they can trust me. A lot of people will listen to those they know and trust.

When speaking against lies, speak directly to the very specific details of the lies. Don't broad stroke. I didn't tell my family and friends that I think the Trump administration is trying to lay the foundation for a tyrannical power grab here in Los Angeles. I simply told them that the "uprising" and "insurrection" talk are lies. I was that blunt. Then I explained the specific details of the truth that I know first hand. Keeping people from believing lies is the most important thing right now. Regardless of their political beliefs, as long as they don't believe lies they are unlikely to be tricked in to surrendering their freedom.

I haven't posted here since November. On the Saturday immediately after the election, I celebrated a close friend being tumor free from a form of stage 4 pancreatic cancer that no one was known to survive. 6 days later on Friday, I spoke with another close friend who I confided in and spoke with the most. Saturday morning, her daughter called me to tell me that she unexpectedly died during the night.

Celebrating one friend's miraculous healing one weekend only to shockingly lose another friend the very next weekend was disjointing, to say the least. I hadn't posted here since then and won't post much here in the future. I'm posting about this, because I think and feel this is an important moment for all of us. I also think it's important, for those of us who know first hand that lies are being told, to speak out loud and far against those lies.

Good luck, godspeed and good hunting if it comes to that.

I found this sentence in an AP live report, it seems germain to topic, and deserves consideration.

"Police arrested several more people for possessing a firearm, assaulting a police officer and shining a laser at a police “airship.”

A police "airship" with scare quotes was mentioned.
I imagine this, half dirigible, half helicopter with 27 rotors, an LA COP sized "airship" with scare quotes.

I also imagine a nice blue sky.

Plausible with the advances we've made on helicopters with multiple rotors. Ukraine and Russia are using thousands if not millions of electric quad motor rotor bombers in their war. Imagine how many tear gas canisters a cop dirigible / 27 electric motor rotor chopper could lift over LA city.

I wonder if Tesla makes their batteries?

Good to see you LA-LA from LA where nothing there has anything at all to do with this other LA.

I've also been doing other things since November or so. I've also been not reading THE news.
but this happened and here I am even though it raises my blood pressure to read the news and talk politics.

I need a distraction, probably so do you:

Thanks. In retrospect, I wish had gone with LA-2-LA as a username.

I've been reading the news from the AP and Reuters only. I've focused on just the facts and opinions of credible experts. I ignore the rest of the hyperbolic noise.

I just read that Trump said the CA National Guard and Marines will be deployed into the streets and given the power to arrest civilians who protest the immigration raids. Tomorrow, a federal court will hear Governor Newsom's suit to block their deployment. Fingers crossed.

I need a distraction, probably so do you:
I'm in a calmly vigilant, wait and see place with it all. Life keeps reminding me that life is unpredictable, no matter how much we try to convince ourselves otherwise. Build toward the best, contingency plan for worse, and keep my head on a swivel.

This whole thing has been absolutely hilarious to watch unfold. I talk and deal with people from all over the world and every one of them said if you're caught illegally in their country, all kinda hell breaks loose for you. They don't understand how its controversial to deport illegals. It is interesting how people in other countries view what is going on in L.A and the general discourse about ICE and deportations here in the USA.

The controversy isn't about enforcing immigration laws—it's about how it's being done. The world reacts to the lack of due process and the inhumane treatment. In the U.S., masked agents with minimal oversight are detaining people violently—sometimes even U.S. citizens—based on nothing but appearance. Children are taken from schools, held without basic care, and families are shattered. This isn’t about law and order anymore—it’s about cruelty.

What’s happening isn’t just cruel — it’s illegal and a complete betrayal of the values the U.S. claims to stand for.

The U.S. is breaking international treaties it has signed, by failing to notify the home countries of detained immigrants. That means those governments can't send legal help or ensure their citizens’ rights are protected. People are being deported to countries they don’t even come from — sometimes not even the same continent. That’s not enforcement. That’s chaos.

Many of the people being deported had legal, protected status — granted because their home countries were unsafe due to war, political persecution, or natural disasters. Some have lived and worked in the U.S. for 10+ years, raised children here, built lives here. The Trump administration stripped those protections recklessly, even when the dangers still very much exist.

This isn’t about "law and order." It’s about using cruelty and fear as tools of policy. And yes, the world sees it. That’s why people react.

Bobo, only 18% of the world's land surface area is covered with English language speaking people. And further diluting that 18% factor is the fact that the non English speaking regions hold the two largest populations on the world, China and India, whereas our English Speaking portions have a much lower per capita per square mile population density..

So English speakers on the world might be as low as say 15% of people overall, kind shrinks my world view down small.

California national guards troops and marines deployed to Los Angeles to help restore order after days of protest against the Trump administration have told friends and family members they are deeply unhappy about the assignment and worry their only meaningful role will be as pawns in a political battle they do not want to join.

Three different advocacy organisations representing military families said they had heard from dozens of affected service members who expressed discomfort about being drawn into a domestic policing operation outside their normal field of operations. The groups said they have heard no countervailing opinions.

“The sentiment across the board right now is that deploying military force against our own communities isn’t the kind of national security we signed up for,” said Sarah Streyder of the Secure Families Initiative, which represents the interests of military spouses, children and veterans.

“Families are scared not just for their loved ones’ safety, although that’s a big concern, but also for what their service is being used to justify.”

Chris Purdy of the Chamberlain Network, whose stated mission is to “mobilize and empower veterans to protect democracy”, said he had heard similar things from half a dozen national guard members. “Morale is not great, is the quote I keep hearing,” he said……..

As federal agents rushed to arrest immigrantsacross Los Angeles, they confined detainees – including families with small children – in a stuffy office basement for days without sufficient food and water, according to immigration lawyers.

One family with three children were held inside a Los Angeles-area administrative building for 48 hours after being arrested on Thursday immediately after an immigration court hearing, according to lawyers from the Immigrant Defenders Law Center (ImmDef), which is providing non-profit legal services in the region.

The children, the youngest of whom is three years old, were provided a bag of chips, a box of animal crackers and a mini carton of milk as their sole rations for a day. Agents told the family they did not have any water to provide during the family’s first day in detention; on the second day, all five were given a single bottle to share. The one fan in the room was pointed directly towards a guard, rather than towards the families in confinement, they told lawyers.

“Because it was primarily men held in these facilities, they didn’t have separate quarters for families or for women,” said Yliana Johansen-Méndez, chief program officer at ImmDef. Clients explained that “eventually they set up a makeshift tent in an outside area to house the women and children. But clearly, there were no beds, no showers.”…….

This was the moment that Donald Trumpwas waiting for. A Democratic city, Los Angeles. A Democratic state, California. His most popular issue, immigration.

And protests where occasional violence could be spotlighted endlessly on social media. What better time to summon the troops and burnish the president’s tough-guy image.

But Trump should be careful what he wishes for. The spectacle of needlessly calling in 4,000 national guard troops and 700 Marines may be red meat for his Maga base, but for most everyone else it is a bright warning sign of Trump’s autocratic tendencies.

Rather than quell the protests, he is provoking more, not only in LA but in at least two dozen cities across the US. Even if this is not yet the mass mobilization that such repression has sparked in other countries, it is making Trump’s true colors clear.

Surrounded by sycophants, living in an echo chamber, Trump seems oblivious to his overreaching. Yes, immigration has been his strong suit, but the issue is more complex than he imagines.

Many Americans were disturbed by the large number of immigrants streaming across the southern border, but there is an enormous difference between bolstering border enforcement and raiding immigrant neighborhoods and workplaces.……..

A rioter admitting he was "paid to be here". A National Guard soldier filming himself being bombarded by "balloons full of oil". A young man declaring his intention to "peacefully protest", before throwing a Molotov cocktail.

These are some things that are not happening on the streets of Los Angeles this week. But you may think they are if you’re getting your news from AI.

Fake AI-generated videos, photos, and factoids about the ongoing protests in LA are spreading like wildfire across social media, not least on Elon Musk's anything-goes social network X (formerly Twitter).

Made using freely available video and image generation software, these wholly synthetic chunks of outrage usually confirm some pre-existing narrative about the protests — such as the baseless idea that they are being covertly funded and equipped by mysterious outside factions.…..

Bo Loudon, the purported “best friend” ofBarron Trump, has claimed he is responsible for the arrest of the world’s most famous TikToker who was detained by ICE and later forced to leave the U.S.

The MAGA, Gen-Z influencer, who has been pictured numerous times with the president and his son, said he had “personally taken action” to have Khaby Lame deported.

“No one is above the law!” he wrote in a series of posts on X, later adding: “I've been working with the patriots at President Trump's DHS to make this happen. He was just ARRESTED in Vegas and is in ICE CUSTODY!”

Despite a community note on the post calling Loudon out for false information, ICE confirmed that Lame had been detained at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas for violating the terms of his visa on June 6.

The 25-year-old star had entered the U.S. on April 30 on a temporary visa. A spokesperson for ICE said he had been granted “voluntary departure” following his arrest and had since left the country.

“No one works faster than President Trump's administration!” Loudon wrote, following news of Lame’s departure.…….

Bragging about silencing a competitor—because that’s easier than facing them. The cruelty is no longer the exception, it’s the strategy. Like a virus, it spreads—fueled by fear, selfishness, and silence.

SEATTLE (AP) — A transgender woman who says she was raped by Mexican cartel members told an immigration judge in Oregon that she wanted her asylum case to continue.

A Venezuelan man bluntly told a judge in Seattle, “They will kill me if I go back to my country.” A man and his cousin said they feared for their lives should they return to Haiti.

Many asylum-seekers, like these three, dutifully appeared at routine hearings before being arrested outside courtrooms last week, a practice that has jolted immigration courts across the country as the White House works toward its promise of mass deportations.

The large-scale arrests that began in May have unleashed fear among asylum-seekers and immigrants accustomed to remaining free while judges grind through a backlog of 3.6 million cases, typically taking years to reach a decision.

Now they must consider whether to show up and possibly be detained and deported, or skip their hearings and forfeit their bids to remain in the country.……
