More than a month after House Republicans surprised Washington by advancing their framework for Trump’s $4.5 trillion in tax breaks and $2 trillion in spending cuts, Senate Republicans voted Thursday to start working on their version. “It has been made clear by President Trump and Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, that no cuts will be made to Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. These are all mandatory programs that I will continue to protect as your Representative in Congress.”
