There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

Little man with bow tie who is acting Speaker has evicted Pelosi from her office, sending her a terse message that she has to be out by tomorrow, even though she is in CA for Feinstein’s funeral. Petty tyrant, much? He’s the one who tried to break the gavel as he closed the session. So, yay, a reasonable adult - NOT! Blaming democrats …..

Also, a former lobbyist who happens to be gay has posted on Twitter about how this same petty little man barred him from coming to his office to call on him specifically because he was gay, and instructed his staff to tell the lobbyist that was the exact reason.

Oh, and they are going to nominate Trump, some Rs have already contacted him, and he is open to being Speaker for a while to help out the Party. (I couldn’t type that with a straight face).

There is evidently a rule against anyone in R leadership in the House being under active indictment for any offense that could result in more than 2 years of jail time. But I doubt that will stop them. I don’t think enough of them would ever vote for Trump. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Like damn... she didn't even participate in the vote. That's a petty mutha forker right there.

This GOP hand-wringing and whining is quite telling.

If Republicans really were better for the country, then any Republican could assume the Speakership and we'd all be fine.

The worry and craven blaming of Democrats tells us that much of the Republican side recognizes that MAGAts are NOT what's best for the country. They're self-aware enough to recognize that they'll just roll over and show their bellies to the Freedom Caucus, America be damned.

These are small offices in the actual Capitol building that leadership from both parties enjoy. And former Speakers. GOP has decided to go “scorched earth” on Dems because of a situation that is entirely of their own doing. I’m beginning to think there are exactly zero moderate Rs left.

That temporary Speaker gave all the signs of a little Napoleon complex when he slammed the gavel down after the vote yesterday. This extreme pettiness is no surprise.

As Democrats have been saying all along, there are no "moderate" Republicans left. They're all vindictive MAGA bullys. It's just that some, like Gaetz, are more willing to burn the whole country to pursue personal vendettas. The others need the country to function just enough to maintain their money, power, and positions.
