This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

I guess the 60 Minutes profile was terrible. As Tom Nichols put it: MTG will be very happy with what they aired. 😡🤡

Also, they are just using “socialism” as a buzzword:

oh NOW (R) are okay using the I word

On Thursday, the three House Democrats approached the podium between bills without being recognized to speak, a breach of chamber rules. With a bullhorn, Reps. Gloria Johnson of Knoxville, Justin Jones of Nashville and Justin Pearson of Memphis led protestors in the galleries in several chants calling for gun reform.

House leadership later likened the trio's behavior to an "insurrection," a characterization House Democrats decried last week.

In 2016, former President Donald Trump won by sweeping the so-called "blue wall" states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. But since then, Democrats have racked up win after win after win in these states — culminating in this week's landslide victory by Democratic-endorsed nonpartisan Supreme Court candidate Janet Protasiewicz in Wisconsin over pro-Trump former state Justice Dan Kelly.

There's one factor turbocharging Democrats' resurgence in the Midwest, argued CNN political analyst Ron Brownstein on Wednesday: the Trump-aligned Supreme Court's rescission of Roe v. Wade, and Republicans' subsequent push to ban abortion outright all over the country.

"We did hear the former Vice President Mike Pence," said anchor Alex Marquardt. "He recently told our colleague Wolf Blitzer that he does support a nationwide abortion ban. So how do Republican candidates navigate this?"..........

And it looks like the second is well on the way. I was able to watch a little bit of it. The GOP members of that body look like fools. One Dem stood up and blasted them all, talking about how he had personally witnessed worse behavior than this, up to and including actual fistfights, that received no punishment. Now a woman and two African American men violate a rule of decorum and they get expelled. I hope every Gen Z'er and Zillenial in Tennessee takes note and votes these fools out of office.

yes,. it is beyond pathetic and hypocritical. Republicans turn a blind eye and don't hold their own accountable for worse acts, and yet this? THIS is really deplorable:

House Speaker Cameron Sexton compared the incident to Jan. 6: "What they did today was equivalent, at least equivalent, maybe worse depending on how you look at it, to doing an insurrection in the State Capitol," he said.

Yeah, three people approaching the well, two of whom spoke without recognition for five seconds before a recess was called, is the worst thing to ever happen. It's a joke. Hell, a GOP Rep put hands on one of the three and got physical with him. On camera. That guy isn't being disciplined, much less expelled.

Gloria Johnson survives, seemingly by a single vote.
Which is telling on them, or at least that one member who changed their vote. She even said outside the building that it was the color of her skin that made the difference.

The arrogance it takes to expel those two black men is breathtaking. At least one of them was just elected, and took his oath of office on the day of the Nashville mass shooting. He didn’t know that what he did was against the rules.

Even if he knew - it’s never happened before in TN for anything less than conviction of a crime, ethical violations or sexual assault. 3 times in the entire history of the state.

These GOP men have zero shame and think they can get away with doing whatever the hell they want and it won’t matter. They’ve been right up until now, I will give them that.

What they don’t realize is that they are driving their children and their normal constituents away from the GOP. They are so radical and so extreme that most of the general population will be repulsed by this move, and by them making guns easier to get and carry before the victims of the shooting are even in the ground.

God, I hope you're right. In all honesty, I'm not too sure.

Yup. As soon as she survived the vote, I knew what was going to happen. And through it all, not a peep about the Republican Rep that assaulted Justin Jones.

Yeah, I saw a bit of video of that physical assault. This is what I mean by arrogance-they know they don’t have to be consistent, that they have the power to do something so unfair and unjust as this. And they are showing everyone that they can do injustices and they will do them. It’s pure arrogance.

    Absolute power always corrupts. Always.
