Optimus Prime's post about Civil War 2 really feels a little too plausible for me to want to think about it. But knowing your destination is important in informing you in if you feel a journey is worth it or not. So, in that vein, I'm asking what do people feel like a Republican USA (RUSA) and Democratic USA (DUSA) would look like if they formed? Is that the wrong form of the question and should it be Conservative USA and Progressive USA? I don't want to get caught up on who gets what geographically. I'm asking about what kind of government would there be? Any guaranteed rights? What role does religion play? Who is and isn't welcome? What kind of economy? How are people educated? How likely is that government to succeed?

And if I think too hard about this, I feel like the above option is much better than what is likely to happen. I fear an attempt to have a population minority government rule the majority. And pretty soon the people who "hate" government overreach are using that exact thing to push their agenda/beliefs on others.

I don't necessarily have an answer to offer on my own question. I feel like the initial thoughts I put down are a bit stereotypical. But then again, I feel like at least for RUSA, stereotypes work because they don't necessarily generate the types of folks that challenge the norms. DUSA on the other hand seems like it could start out Utopian in intent but would have to track back to pragmatism and realism at some point.

Heh, I think the biggest question to begin everything with is, "What makes a state republican or democrat"?

Take the hypothetical state of PartyLand:
    Population: 10 million
    Registered Republicans: 4.5 million
    Registered Democrats: 4 million
    No Party Affiliation: 1.5 million.

    2016 Election Results
    Clinton: 4.6 million
    Trump: 5.4 million

    2020 Election Results
    Biden: 5.5 million votes
    Trump: 4.5 million votes

Is that state republican or democrat?

Either way that state would be a bloodbath if the civil war fanatics got their way.

I assume every state votes for who to join, and after that you have mass migration not seen since when India, and Pakistan split.

Except it will make the violence of the Partition look like nothing.

Fresh off her widely-panned tweet calling for a “national divorce,” Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is proposing a temporary voting ban on Democrats who move to red states..........

She also clarified that she was not arguing for separate nations, but rather the Department of Defense would protect national borders “so that each state could exist how it chooses to exist.”

Kirk pushed back, saying, “I don’t think the left would ever stop. I don’t think they’ll ever stop trying to invade our states or our county. So how do we stop them?”

“Well, I think that, you know, red states could choose, how they allow people to vote in their states,” Greene said.

“What I think would be something that some red states could propose is, well, okay, if Democrat voters choose to flee these blue states where they cannot tolerate the living conditions, they don’t want their children taught these horrible things and they really change their mind on the types of policies that they support,” Greene raged.

“Well, once they move to a red state, guess what? Maybe you don’t get to vote for five years,” Greene concluded, suggesting to disenfranchise her fellow Americans over their political views.

“You can live there, you can work there, but you don’t get to bring your values that you basically created in the blue states you came from by voting for Democrat leaders and Democrat policies,” she said..............

So, now she's stating directly that she wants to supress democrat votes...and minimize the federal government, while maximizing state governments. The end result is everyone will pay the same amount (if not more) in taxes, and there will be less cooperation between the states.

If we're dissolving the Union, why should it even be about states anyway? Why should MTG and the secessionists get to declare Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee to be in their new nation when the population centers in those states don't want to be in it? If you're dissolving the union, lets dissolve states too . . . I mean, if the purpose is to allow people to be governed the way they want to be governed without any deference to the political will of the larger body?

Why should Atlanta have to be part of MTG's Georgia? They don't want to be in it - so they shouldn't have to be. Why should Nashville have to be in the with rest of red Tennessee?

Let her have the "red states" but they don't get the cities - that would go against everything she's basing the idea on. Carve it all up - but do it right.

Or actually no, that's still forking stupid as hell.

Wow, PartyLand has 100% voter turnout

    What are they doing?

Does Empty G know that the state that she represents is a blue state?

Do the people in red states who receive Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security etc. understand that walking away from the United States is walking away from that funding source?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you can't be a secessionist and a patriot at the same time - it's literally impossible.

But it completely is in their (MAGA) mindset. You see, the real "patriots" are those who want to preserve the USA, not those liberal, progressive Democrats. There are to many minorities, immigrants and liberals in the USA. So if the real "patriots" need to separate from the rest of the other people to preserve the USA, then that's what it takes.

They're already doing this by moving to states like Florida and Texas where they have supermajorities in government and can continue to concentrate power to live out theIr repressive utopia. The problem is there aren't enough of them and they're losing states like Georgia and Arizona in the process, so best to separate now.
