Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

I don't recall ever seeing anyone naked even in the locker room at school.

No one was showering after PE. I can't imagine there being enough time for schools to have students taking showers during the day.

We never showered in the locker room after basketball games or practice. Maybe football teams do it more often, but i can't imagine the trans issue coming up with a high school football team.

No one should be walking around naked anywhere on a school campus, even locker rooms.
I think you are trying a little to hard normalizing a person with a penis in a females changing area/bathroom/locker room. Well, I can assure, there is nudity in lockerooms, bathrooms, changing areas, especially for sports. Do you think athletes go to school all day after having to work out/lift in the morning before school without showering before hand?

I don't think setting community standards based on the sport/activity played would be a smart move.

What age, do you think it is inappropriate for a female to see male genitalia in a lockeroom/bathroom, changing room?

"Alternatives to terms like “male” and “female” and “mother” and “father” should be sought in science because they assume that sex is binary and heterosexuality is the norm, a group of researchers from the US and Canada suggests.

Male and female should instead be referred to as “sperm-producing” and “egg-producing,” the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) Language Project said, according to the Times of London.

Meanwhile, father and mother should be labeled “parent,” “egg donor” and “sperm donor” in the scientific field."

Should 'science' be concerned with feelings or the truth?

So are you worried about a trans person on the powerlifting or football team having to worry about showering with people who are cis?

Or, to Foxsplain it to you, like a biological girl being with the football or powerlifting team?

I think in 50 years the number of conceptions by non traditional means will be close to the same as the number of natural conceptions, at least in the developed world.

So changing the language isn't trying to end a tradition, it's adapting to it that tradition ending.

    Apparently not.

They certainly didn't give us time to shower after PE class.

Do most schools give students time to shower after PE? how was their time to change, have PE, shower and change again in an hour? There wouldn't be enough time to even get sweaty enough to warrant a shower.

I think I may have the wrong idea here... when you say "PE", I know it is physical education, what is it that it entails? In my head, I am thinking more like varsity sports, being part of a team and practice.

In MX growing up, we didn't have PE; we had "go out to the back of the school mid school day and hurt yourself doing something stupid".

Yea, but even in my experience, there weren't many sports team related showers either. Maybe one or two guys on a team would use the showers if they were going straight to work at the grocery store after practice, but i don't recall anyone every using them for the basketball or baseball teams. We just went home after games or practice.

Maybe with football teams, it would be more common, but i can't imagine that trans students were going to be involved with the football teams much at all. Those situations would easily be rare enough to treat on a case by case basis.

Who you have sex with may not be binary (although I don't know what else is there after penis and vagina) but to procreate, it sure as hell is binary in most species on the planet. This group of researchers sounds like the researchers from the creationist museum that say Jesus rode dinosaurs..

We always showered after football/hockey/lacrosse/basketball/baseball. After PE? Can't remember.

What is happening here is so on-brand for the type of propaganda that is being pushed by Farb and other anti-LBGTQIA activists. We are being snookered into discussing whether or not people shower at school, when that doesn’t matter one bit.

The issue raised by Farb is that one college athlete, who has been shown to be an anti-LBGTQIA activist, has alleged that she saw a penis in a locker room. Farb then used that allegation, which isn’t proven or corroborated as far as I know, to suggest that elementary schoolgirls are being forced to shower in the presence of male genitalia. It’s a ridiculous concept. A truly malicious piece of propaganda.

We should have just ridiculed him for this awful post from the beginning.

Republicans can't stop fixating on penises. They're obsessed with trans peoples genitalia, no matter how inappropriate. The whole approach is to degrade trans people in the eyes of the public to make them easier targets for discrimination. It's a very effective and it's working in many parts of this country.

Yes, it’s truly working. Farb is a prime example. He has bought every bit of it, lock stock and barrel. And Florida is showing us what happens when people in power focus on marginalized people. New atrocities all the damn time.

I am worried about young girls and boy for that matter being exposed to the opposite sex genatalia. I know I am outdated and old school in that approach so to answer your question. Yes, I am worried about that as person as well since clearly the adults have let that person down as well as the other innocents in that room that do not have a say in the matter.

I will ask again, at what age is it appropriate for girls to be exposed to male genitalia in a bathroom/changing area/lockeroom?
    or to ask another way
Is there an age that should be protected from seeing the opposite sex's genitalia?

If you don't think age has any part in this debate, then please just express that view so we can move on from what should be a very simple question.

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/lia-t...er-room-after-meet-riley-gaines-dropped-pants

In an interview on "America Reports" Wednesday, the 12-time All-American and five-time SEC champion urged the National Collegiate Athletic Association to make separate locker rooms for transgender athletes, recounting her own discomfort when she was exposed to Thomas' "male genitalia" in a women's locker room after a meet.

"We were not forewarned beforehand that we would be sharing a locker room with Lia. We did not give our consent, they did not ask for our consent, but in that locker room we turned around, and there’s a 6’4" biological man dropping his pants and watching us undress, and we were exposed to male genitalia," Gaines said.

So at least you are kind of answering the question. You are fine with penises being in college female lockerrooms/bathrooms/changing rooms. Is it the age of the females present or the age of the person with the male penis?

At what age should you be worried penises in a female lockeroom/changing area/bathroom? What about High Schools? We can just start working down.

What about the atrocities to the females? Do their experiences not matter as much as a guy who wants to be a girl?

Yeah, you got it about right. PE is a class that everyone has to take and it is more of the 'go out to the back of the school mid school day and hurt yourself by doing something stupid'

If you were an athlete then your 'PE' was probably either 1st or last period and that was in conjunction with a team practice or work out either before school or just after school. I find it amazing that people didn't shower and just went straight to class.

Can you describe a situation at a school where this could possibly happen?
