The most recent PISA results, from 2015, placed the U.S. an unimpressive 38th out of 71 countries in math and 24th in science. Among the 35 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which sponsors the PISA initiative, the U.S. ranked 30th in math and 19th in science.

    My suggestion is rather simple.

    1. Study why immigrants from East Asia, India, and Nigeria do well with American education. Apply that insight to other groups (if possible).
    2. Manage public schools as if though they were private schools with uniforms and discipline.
    3. Create high end special schools for those that are truly disenfranchised.
    4. Create a force of social workers to treat family dysfunction with regards to education.
    5. Reduce the curriculum to the simple basics and repeat that on a yearly basis.
    6. At about 10th grade divide college bound students away from non-college bound.
    7. Provide solid basic education and trade training for non-college bound kids. There is no point in offering free college to these kids.

At what age though? You honestly can't think a 10 year old should have body autonomy. Right?
As of 2013 the states are all over on this. Some are 18, others, like Alabama are 14. A 14 yr old can consent to any medical or dental procedure without a parent or anyone else.

Now, in the case of NY, that teacher was a whack job. How did she even get a vaccine to administer? It's illegal for her to do it, and in NY, you need to be 18 or have a parent or guardian consent.

Both sides like religion. You guys like the religion of big federal government and we like to put our faith in something other than politicians. But to each their own.
Don't do that. It's not a good look.

The definition did change. I know 'language is fluid' and all of that, just seems strange, no?
What a vaccine is doesn't change, i.e. an agent that stimulates the body's immune system to respond against a particular disease, but kudos I guess? to the CDC for bringing their definitions into the 21st century. We have known since forever that few vaccines offer 100% protection against a particular disease i.e., immunity, which is clear to reasonable people, but unfortunately, as astounding as it sounds, in the 21st century, we are dealing with a significant number of unreasonable, anti-science, politically driven anti-vaxxers looking for any "gotcha!" they can, however misguided.

Why can't I do that? I know you guys get defensive about people talking about your religion but mine can be brought up to 'own the cons'? Your right, it is not a good look, just like when you did it.

For the last time, I am for the vaccine if you need it or want it. I am not for anyone forcing anyone to take it. To me, that is the biggest difference.

Do you think we should drop all the vaccine requirements for school and the military?

The states are all over place. In Alabama, a person has to be 19 or over to consent, without parental consent, to get the jab. They can be 14 to approve of basic general medical, dental and mental procedures but are not considered an adult until 19 generally.

Article from 2018 - pre covid
    =====================

From Taliban fighters to California soccer moms, those who choose not to vaccinate their children against preventable diseases are causing a public health crisis.

Disease outbreaks have killed millions of people, and scientists have spent generations developing ways to save those in jeopardy. Still, many people don’t think it’s a good idea to protect themselves or their children from preventable diseases, and choose to forego vaccinations.

Even in 2013, the anti-vaccination movement continues to leave the door open to outbreaks of diseases that have been all but eradicated by modern medicine. These diseases include measles, polio, whooping cough, and more.

In Pakistan, polio remains an epidemic because the Taliban has banned aid workers from vaccinating children. They say they fear that vaccination efforts are simply a ruse meant to disguise espionage. Health workers attempting to distribute vaccines there have been attacked and killed. A total of 101 polio cases have been reported in the country as of mid-November, and another 240,000 children have not been vaccinated..........

Earlier this year, researchers confirmed that a 2010 whooping cough outbreak in California, the nation’s worst in over 50 years, was spread by children whose parents applied for non-medical exemptions to school vaccination requirements, many for religious reasons.

The study showed that more cases of whooping cough occurred in the clusters of unvaccinated children than not, resulting in 9,120 instances of the disease and 10 deaths. In San Diego county alone, there were 5,100 exemptions and 980 whooping cough cases.

In August, the Texas megachurch Eagle Mountain International Church made headlines after 21 members of its congregation contracted measles. Coincidently, the outbreak occurred during National Immunization Awareness Month.

The church, part of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, advocated abstaining from vaccinations over fears that they can cause autism. The outbreak was traced back to a church member who had traveled abroad on a mission trip and then spread measles among the unvaccinated congregation........

Oh, that's just crazy. So, do you not want our military available?

Most childhood illnesses we get vaccinations for are very dangerous to kids.
Is it though? I think a political purge of our military under the guise of 'medical safety' is crazy.

You are 100% correct. How dangerous is covid to children? I would argue not enough to mandate the jab unless you are also want the flu shot mandated as well for schools.

Yes, it is crazy that vaccine refusal aligns with people's political party.

Yeah! Let’s not mandate vaccines for the military! Great idea!

Malaria isn’t that bad! If the soldier going to the Pacific Rim or Africa doesnt need to be protected! Let the 18 year old high school graduate make their own decisions!

Or typhoid fever? Please. Small pox? Cmon this is our freedom we are talking about! Freedom we signed away when we joined the…wait.

He’s talking about measles, rubella etc. polio. You want to stop all vaccine mandates for schools and the military? That is nuts.
I am not anti-vax not matter how much easier it would be to protray me as such.
I thought he was talking about the covid mandate and I think he was.

It is crazy, but I don't think it is that cut and dry. Maybe it is, but most people I know are conservative and got the jab and boosters. I also know a few liberals that refuse it as well.

Maybe it comes down if you trust the government and big pharma as opposed who you voted for?

My apologies, I was under the impression we were talking about the wuhan jab, not vaccines over all.

If that is what he meant, then I was wrong. My bad.

So who gets to decide which vaccines should be mandated for the military?

    Commander in Chief perhaps?
Are we discussing vaccines or therapeutics?

Can we even still call it a vaccine? I know politically we will because the definition was just changed and we have been told too but in reality, is it a vaccine or a pre-therapeutic? Honest question.
