This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

"The thing about the Voting Rights Act is, you know, there's a lot of different things you can look at it as. Who is it going to help? What direction do we need to go with it? I think it's important that everything we do we keep secure. We keep an eye on it. It's run by our government," Tuberville said, according to the recording from a rotary club meeting.

    :freak7:

I truly feel horrible for Doug Jones, he should have just said he was a Republican. I hope he's doing some real work in his state to better educate the voters because it is obvious to me they didn't elect the best person for the job a qualified person to the Senate.

In Alabama, about 60% of people believe that being a Democrat is tantamount to being a child molesting, satan worshiping, socialist. There may be 20% of Republicans that aren't that crazy, but most here are. The only way to lose in Alabama is to actually be a child molester or a satan worshiper or a socialist. We know Republicans are sometimes child molesters like Roy Moore (who Doug Jones beat), but satan worshiping or socialist Republicans won't win their primaries, so that leaves practically no chance for any highly qualified and brilliant Democrat like Jones to win statewide. Even then, Moore still got something like 48.4% of the vote. Jones only beat him by 1.5%! I live here, and like my little enclave, but Alabama is largely filled with deplorables.

So what do they think about all of the registered Democrats in Louisiana who only vote Republican?

Can we stop pretending that the Republican party isn't mostly Qlowns?

I think they are simply following what they think is the will of their electorate. They aren't leaders, they're just doing what their crowd wants. Again, I go back to that older lady telling McCain that Obama was a socialist Muslim.. he corrected her... lost the room. The ROOM.

Politicians always have to walk that line, but the ones that do the best for the country, identify real problems, effectively communicate and sell those ideas, and get the public to echo that.

And that's the dance they have to do

I think some people think that the extreme crazies only make up 1 or 2 million out of the 74 million who voted for Trump

I believe it's higher than that. How much higher is anyone's guess

But it's high enough that the politicians don't think they can win without them

I read something that estimated it's probably closer to 20%. (that still may be low) if that 20% is true that's 15 million Trump voters and without them that makes the final election tally 80+ million to 60 which is a laugher

That's the problem for those in the party who recognize and dislike that the GOP has become a party of conspiracy-minded, often racist, anti-democratic zealots - it is being driven by a significant portion of the American public who identify that way. Decades of indoctrination by right-wing media, the radicalization of 'Christianity' to stand for a certain 'political' viewpoint, and some genuine and instinctive beliefs about culture war and general social progress have left us with a very large demographic who supports these things and the leaders who advocate for them. And they don't value democratic processes or institutions in any way - they have been taught to mistrust or even detest them.

This isn't a Republican problem and I'm afraid that those reasonably-minded Republicans who want to clean up the party are going be in a substantial minority. It's an American problem.

There are subtle hints of this all around us. For example, country music artist Morgan Wallen was recently the subject of controversy when a video was released of him in a drunken fit, yelling out things including calling someone a "N______" (racist epithet). His label and the country music artist community largely condemned his conduct or called for him to get help . . . but his sales have increased more than 3x.

I believe a solid 50% of the Republican base believes some or all of the various right wing-nut conspiracy cult nonsense. This is evidenced by poll after poll showing roughly 50% of them are STILL Birthers and over 70% believing the election was stolen.

The reason he lost the room is the result of their own work. They have been seeding their electorate with disinformation for decades, the only way to get the room back is to start being honest with them and, from the looks of it, they are fine with deceiving the people.

Correction: as of 2017 it was 57% that were still Birthers. With the way sane people have been leaving the GOP these last 4 years, I suspect in a poll of remaining people who identify as Republican the percentage would be higher today.

How is this guy still the "leader" of the GOP?

OK, that cannot be real, the rant about loaning his card to others just seems like someone added it for comedic value.

Edit: I do give the creator of this letter some credit though, it's pretty hilarious and had it been presented on a SNL skit, Alec Baldwin would have killed it.
