Control of the Senate is on the line. Assuming the current numbers will stand on recount, only 1.9% of the vote (90,295 votes) separated Republican incumbent David Perdue from his Democratic challenger, Jon Ossof. The third place Libertarian candidate received 2.3% of the vote (144,566 votes). In the special election, Raphael Warnock led the pack with 32.9% of the vote trailed by incumbent Kelly Loeffler who received 25.9% of the vote. Doug Collins, the other major GOP candidate, finished with 20% of the vote. Various other Democrat candidates finished with a combined 15.5% of the vote. Various other GOP candidates finished with 3.4% and roughly 2% for independent candidates.

Andrew Yang has posted that he will be moving to Georgia to help campaign for Ossof and Warnock.

Yeah. IIRC, every Republican in Georgia (as well as Trump) was begging for Kemp to appoint Doug Collins to the seat and went ballistic when he didn't. I think Trump endorsed him in the November election as well.

Count me in as a likely split ticket voter. I’m in my 30s, female, and previously had never voted for a Democrat but I flipped and voted Biden this time. I’m in Ga and planned on voting Republican because I want a Republican senate but the idea of voting for Loeffler makes me want to . I also think her ads against Warnock especially when he’s preaching in his church have racist undertones and I find her to be extremely fake. I’m prob voting Purdue and Warnock.

have a question- you deem Loeffler "fake" but Perdue not so much? Is it a female "thing" to identify the fake woman, but not label a man fake? How do you reconcile his moves in the stock market while sitting on the Senate Intelligence Committee? Do you chalk that up to "perks of the position" or struggle with that? More concerned with Republican "values" than the actual candidate themselves?

And Bill's still may not pass, but mitch cant shield them.

Yes, exactly. All she wants is to let bills passed by the House get a fair hearing. What McConnell has done is to choke democracy by not letting any bills come to the floor. He knows that his caucus is shielded from the consequences of doing nothing about pressing problems by not having to vote on these bills.

But we elected these folks to actually deal with these issues, they shouldn’t get to hide behind Mitch and never have to take a stand. If they are against a bill, then vote against it. A single man elected by voters for one state shouldn’t have absolute control over what bills are even considered.

And sure, this would work the other way when there is an R Vice President and a democratically controlled senate, but that’s fine. It’s the way the Senate was intended to work.
