More than a dozen White House officials have recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus, including some who are among the at least nine guests and two journalists who tested positive after they attended Amy Coney Barrett’s Sept. 26 Supreme Court nomination event in the Rose Garden.

Trump announced his positive test early Friday, and was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center later that day. He returned Monday to the White House, where he removed his mask, despite doctors saying he was still contagious.

Meanwhile, Taiwan — the self-ruled island home to 23 million people — reported just eight new cases in the past week............

Now we hear this morning that Trump did indeed go to the Oval Office yesterday. Because no rules, no medical safeguards apply to him. He is more important than the safety of the WH staff.

He had space to work in the private quarters of the WH, I don’t see any reason to go to the Oval Office except to salve his ego. He is stupidly underestimating how off-putting it is for people who have been staying home, isolating and following medical guidelines, to see him flouting them.

Well, time for me to go back to my religion and philosophy board -yes, is mine, all mine!!! - and continue my religion bashing ( although I am experiencing a bit of writer's block trying to write a rant against religion that would include Amy Coney Barret and incorporate a really good Bill Maher quote - "you can name your rape babies Jill Stein"- ... I digress )...

I am sure there are some here that are reading the threads enjoying the owing of the liberals, taking pleasure in reading the "outrage" and "despair", even if that's not what a post conveys. But as long as one is concerned, a little mad, or even if one is just making statements of opinion, those "tears" must taste delicious.

In any case, I'll just give them a placebo and say that the tweets, the stupidity, the complete disregard for fellow citizens, the corruption, the lies, the obvious in your face voting suppression, the disregard for our environment, the anti-science effort, the racist whistles (we can hear them loud and clear now, not just dogs), and so forth... none of it matters to the GOP and its parishioners. The GOP has become a cult, a religion, which needs to be followed no matter what... it is approaching North Korea levels, not there yet, even though I am sure someone internally has suggested Trump's beatification.

And that's where we are. Like many, I hope this ends (or the beginning of the end anyway) Nov 3rd. Certainly, covid-19 taking its course would make ripping the bandage less painful. But all things considered, I have my doubts about the coming election, and I can see 4 more years of Trump, the continuous deterioration of our institutions, further disregard for the U.S. Constitution, and a boom in babies named Jill.

And since the White House refuses to state if/when he tested negative after the event, it feels pretty safe to assume that he just wasn't being tested at all and that they just relied on testing everyone else around him instead.

This aligns with my theory that the issue is he's had it longer than they know because they have been lying about him being tested daily or, probably, at all.

His symptoms started sometime Wednesday or Thursday. Median time from infection to symptoms is about five days, so if he got it on Saturday, that would make sense. You also don't start testing positive as soon as you are infected - the viral load has to build enough.

But there's stories out today that they just weren't testing the president because they were testing everyone else. That may not be the worse course of action, though it's pretty dumb. What's far more ridiculous, reckless, and unacceptable, is that after the first alarm went off that the president's close circle is infected, they should have begun isolation and contact tracing.

The other thing is that they followed up the rapid test (antigen test) that is more known for false negatives than false positives, with the full PRC test. If you get a positive antigen test, I'm pretty sure you're going to get a positive PRC. Not sure if it has ever given a false positive, outside of a lab error.
