This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

The number of child labor violations has risen fivefold in the last 10 years, but Republicans across the US are continuing to propose and pass legislation that rolls back protections or regulations for workers under the age of 18.

Republicans in Nebraska, Indiana and West Virginia have successfully passed legislation in 2026 rolling back child labor regulations, with legislation led by Republicans pending in other states, including Florida, Missouri and Virginia.

The efforts to roll back child labor protections at the state level, with the ultimate goal of eroding federal standards, were outlined in Project 2025, the rightwing Heritage Foundation thinktank’s controversial blueprint for more conservative government.

Since 2021, 30 states have proposed legislation that would roll back child labor protections and regulations, with 17 states enacting rollbacks.

“They don’t just want to weaken state standards. They also have this broader goal of eroding the federal standards and the weakening of the state standards is a stepping stone toward that goal,” said Nina Mast, policy and economic analyst at the Economic Policy Institute.

“If federal standards are eroded, then they have nothing in place to protect minors from hazardous work, exploitative conditions, being over-scheduled, all these types of violations that we’re already seeing in across the country,” said Mast.

The number of minors employed in violation of child labor laws increased from 1,012 children in fiscal year 2015 to 5,272 in fiscal year 2025, with 773 children illegally employed in hazardous occupations in 2025 compared to 355 in 2015.…….

Unless Tillis said a lot more than this - I couldn’t disagree with this poster more. This statement is gutless. It doesn’t mention Trump and criticizes “political discourse” as if Dems are also making this kind of horrible crass statement. It was just Trump.

He is one of many Republican cowards who are responsible for everything that happens in trump’s second term. He can go back to NC and eats grass.

This person has XY chromosomes and would be expected to play on boys sports teams, use the boys locker room and even today use the men’s restrooms if the GOP has their way.

Human biology shouldn’t be simplified like the GOP wants to force everyone to go along with.

This is who the GOP has embraced. Who Trump has embraced.

These are the same butt crevasses that for decades have been telling men not to go to college because they'll be indoctrinated, it's too expensive and there's no ROI. And now they're worried about men not being in these fields? Make that make any sense.

Do they just want lawyers, engineers and doctors to be unqualified/uneducated men pretending to be in these professionals like we see in the men running Republican governments all across the country? Because it sounds like that's exactly what they want.

Also, I'm professional engineer. There are more women today in engineering, but it's still mostly all men. Those dynamics haven't changed much.

Biology shouldn't matter at all for any human. Skin color, biology. Hair and eye color, biology. Shape of eyes and face, biology. Reproductive and endocrine systems, biology. None of those should matter about how any person is treated.

I was surprised to hear Jackie mention being a former Mrs. America, so I looked it up.

When Republican presidents win power in the US there is a stark consequence for many pregnant woman around the world – a significant rise in maternal mortality as aid is withdrawn, a new study has found.

Global family planning aid typically drops under Republican presidents and then rises again by 48% once Democratic presidents are elected, the research, published in BMJ Global Health, finds.

For countries heavily reliant on US aid, there are sweeping ramifications from this switch. When Republican presidents take control and shrink family planning aid, it correlates to an 11% increase in maternal mortality, the study found. This is equivalent to around 45 additional deaths for every 100,000 live births.

This on-off rise in maternal mortality since the 1980s, during a period when overall maternal mortality has declined worldwide, is linked to the use of the so-called global gag rule.

First implemented by Ronald Reagan in 1985, the rule blocks any federal funding for overseas organizations that provide, advise or advocate for abortion services.

This has resulted in many pregnant women failing to get adequate care, with maternal mortality rising by 16% in Latin America, 15% in Asia and 7% in Africa, the study, authored by a team of experts from the UK, Colombia and Sweden, found.

Under Donald Trump, the US has escalated this policy to apply to all US global health aid under a policy called Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance. His administration has dismantled USAID and terminated more than 90% of the agency’s awards for family planning and reproductive health programmes.

This is likely to have severe impacts for women around the world, the study’s authors warn.

“These results underscore the vulnerability of health systems to abrupt shifts in donor policy and highlight the importance of stable international support for reproductive health services,” they wrote.

“Although the policy named Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance under the Trump administration aims to protect life, our findings instead suggest higher rates of maternal deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth.”……….

    made up award
“The president has done so much for the American people and we want to honor him, in some small way, some token of our appreciation for his leadership,” said Mike Johnson, the US House speaker. “So, tonight, we have created a new award.”

Johnson then introduced the “America First” award, made up of a golden eagle statue.

“We could think of no better title for what that is,” said Johnson. “That’s this beautiful golden statue here – appropriate for the new golden era in America.”

Some Republicans have raised alarm bells at the growing number of young conservatives who have been influenced by far-right online personalities that espouse negative opinions of Jewish people, women, people of color and more.

Streamers and podcasters who have been accused of sharing such views, such as Nick Fuentes, Myron Gaines and others, have grown in popularity over the last few years – appealing to a younger bloc of conservatives disgruntled with traditional politics.

“We don’t think Hitler is, like, the worst person ever,” Alec Beaton, a 23-year-old former Trump campaign staffer, told the Washington Post at a national young conservatives conference. Beaton added that he praises Adolf Hitler to “mess with people.”

Fuentes, a 27-year-old white nationalist with a Rumble platform of more than 600k, said during a recent stream that women “just lie and they’re whores. Not all of them… but it is a serious problem.”

Gaines, a 36-year-old streamer, podcaster and author of a book titled Why Women Deserve Less, wrote on X in October, “Yeah we like Hitler. No one gives a f*** what you woke jews think anymore.”

While the sentiments from the influential political commentators likely do not represent the beliefs of all, or even most, young conservatives, their platforms are growing.…….
