This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

These are a couple of points about what I saw in the clips of the hearing. It was said that Garland was going after innocent children with agents armed with long guns (? WTH?). It was said that Garland directed the FBI to target parents who complained about their childrens’ education. It was said that Garland did nothing to stop “rioters” at the homes of SC Justices.

House Freedom Caucus Chair Scott Perry on Thursday threatened to eliminate federal office space for agencies if Biden administration officials don’t comply with oversight demands from House Republicans.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, Mr Perry complained that the federal government has been “weaponised” against conservatives — a frequent GOP grievance for which no evidence exists — and suggested federal officials and civil servants responsible for such policies as vaccine mandates should be imprisoned or made to fear for their lives by a “firestorm” of Republican-led oversight by the House of Representatives.

“These leftists, these marxists that have prevailed upon the American people and used this awesome power of the federal government to cow us into fear in our homes, they‘ve got to be put on notice. They‘ve got to be quaking in fear. They‘ve got to be losing weight because they are not eating because they‘re worried they‘re going to end up going to jail for using the awesome powers of the federal government,” he said.

The Pennsylvania congressman, who last year refused to comply with a subpoena from the House January 6 select committee, then threatened to use his own authority to punish entire federal agencies if civil servants or Biden administration appointees fail to fully comply with subpoenas from the GOP majority.

“If they are not interested in showing up, we can say I‘m in charge now of the transportation committee of federal leases. Isn‘t that something?” he said.

“I wonder who‘s leases might be coming up – we are taking a look at the list ... when they go from a big building to that small space on the square, that will be awesome, won‘t it?”.............

What a pathetic, petty little man.

So, are you comparing what this guy said to what Ted Crruz and others in congress said? Even you know have to know the key difference in this guy and Ted Cruz....
I’m comparing what BrooklynDad said to what Cruz said? I don’t follow, when did I compare him to anyone? If you want me to compare them then here, those two are the skid marks on the underpants of society.

A little more about the crazy FL bill that wants to track anyone who writes about government officials:

what is the point of this bill? It’s like Republicans have lost their damn minds and turned into Big Brother everywhere.

I can’t imagine it would stand, considering it would clearly be in direct conflict with the first amendment. Just a waste of taxpayer money for performative BS.

I’m thinking DeSantis won’t care if the courts strike it down, its purpose is intimidating the press.

Washington (CNN) — In his quest to prove the federal government has been “weaponized” against conservatives, Republican House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan has touted the allegations of what he claims are “dozens” of whistleblowers who have come to his office with stories of discrimination and bias.

While little is known about them, Jordan’s reliance on these whistleblowers is already emerging as an early flashpoint, with Democrats raising questions about their legitimacy as actual whistleblowers and the relevance of their testimony.

Three of Jordan’s witnesses have come in for private interviews with committee staff so far. None of them appear to have had their claims validated by government entities that grant federal whistleblower protection, sources familiar with their testimony said. One who alleged there was FBI wrongdoing had their claims rejected.

Another is retired and it’s unclear whether he has first-hand knowledge of the violations he alleges. The third has not revealed his direct disclosures or FBI suspension notice to House Democrats, according to transcripts reviewed by CNN.

Separately, several other supposed whistleblowers who have not come in for interviews were suspended from the FBI for being at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, according to multiple sources familiar with the committee’s work.

This is a point Jordan has not shied away from, using the accounts of “several whistleblowers” in a May 2022 letter to accuse the FBI of “retaliating against employees” for engaging in “protected First Amendment activity on January 6.”

Jordan added in the letter that he had been told none of these whistleblowers were inside the US Capitol, charged with any crime or contacted by law enforcement about their actions…….

............But so far, Republicans have brought only three of those whistleblowers to Capitol Hill for questioning, and have not scheduled any additional interviews after completing the most recent in mid-February. In the interviews conducted to date, witnesses have offered contradictory responses, maintained fringe and violent online presences that undermine their credibility, and failed to demonstrate first-hand knowledge of alleged FBI wrongdoing.

The results have left Democrats gleeful and even some Republicans deeply unimpressed. A “dumpster fire,” is how one Democrat with knowledge of the at-times combative interactions terms the proceedings. “Clearly there is room to grow and improve before [more] public hearings,” a Republican familiar with the process tells Rolling Stone. But the work so far, the Republican says, has been “very much amateur hour,” adding that airing this “stuff on live television would make us look like morons.” (Sources spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak candidly about the sensitive matters.)

“It is beyond disappointing, but sadly not surprising, that Democrats would leak cherry-picked excerpts of testimony to attack the brave whistleblowers who risked their careers to speak out on abuses at the Justice Department and FBI,” a GOP House Judiciary spokesperson tells Rolling Stone.

But if the whistleblowers aren’t able to produce what Jordan has promised, it will be a serious blow to Republicans’ plan to use control of the House to refocus the public away from Trump’s proximity to an insurrection and onto an alleged anti-conservative conspiracy.

The whistleblower pipeline comes from a collaboration between Jordan, other MAGA lawmakers, and top officials in Trump’s orbit. Whistleblowers have received payments and legal counsel through this loose network; one whistleblower, Stephen Friend — a former FBI agent who brought concerns about the agency’s questioning of Jan. 6 protesters to Republicans — even received a job.............

Aspokesman for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) offered a profane response when asked to comment on a misleading claim the congresswoman made online.

Greene blamed President Joe Biden's policies for the deaths of two young men from Michigan whose mother testified Tuesday before the House Homeland Security Committee, although they each overdosed in 2020 while Donald Trump was president.

"I asked Greene’s office last night about her tweet blaming the Biden administration for these deaths in 2020 under Trump," said CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale. "Spokesman Nick Dyer responded by saying lots of people have died from drugs under Biden and 'do you think they give a f--k about your bulls--t fact checking?'"

Dale followed up with additional chances to clear up false claims Greene had made and was met with a similar, but more succinct, response.

"I also gave Greene congressional spokesman Nick Dyer an opportunity to comment regarding Greene’s multiple false claims yesterday about the 2020 election, such as the lies that Trump won Georgia and that there were thousands of dead voters there," Dale said. "His response: 'F--k off.'".............
