Thought we should start thread here - over weekend, US carried out strikes against Houthi elements in Yemen in retaliation for their actions in Red Sea.

Houthi leader issued this statement- no US ships in Red Sea

Houthis then attempted to strike US Carrier group

This morning Trump took to Truth Social:

So any missile/shot fired from Houthi elements in Yemen will be considered coming from Iran. Obviously this is wrought with problems, but we know Houthis will respond and continue attacks.

So then what does this mean for Iran? Lots to unpack, but seems to me that the NO WAR POTUS is hell bent on getting into yet ANOTHER conflict in the ME. He is backing himself into a corner with statements and we could find ourselves embroiled in ME conflict again.

He will never receive it. The Nobel Committee considers the full picture, and his record on human rights—particularly his treatment of immigrants and refugees—will ensure he never garners enough support. He will remain bitterly envious of Obama’s achievement, and that resentment will gnaw at him for the rest of his life.
Jimmy Carter won his Nobel prize more for what he did when not president than for what he did as president. Carter never sought the limelight or public praise. His motivation was solely helping others and he did it with respect and empathy. Hands down the best US President in my lifetime which started with Nixon.

wtf if going on - lol

Look at the time stamp. I don't think he woke up that early. I think he was still awake. Chronic lack of sleep leads to the behavioral symptoms that is called dementia. On top of that, he's probably suffering from neurological conditions that cause dementia which gets worse the longer someone is awake, referred to as sundowning. I think he's legitimately demented. Look at the tone of those tweets. They aren't in his usual autocratic tone. They are quite "peace and love hippyish."

Personalty shifts are common as dementia becomes more severe. Some pleasant people become down right nasty. Some nasty people get even nastier. And sometimes, some nasty people become very pleasant. My father is in the nasty to nastier group. Maybe Trump is in the nasty to pleasant group. That would be a godsend, but I ain't hold'n my breath.

Yeah, he often posts in the wee hours of the night/morning. Dude's got a lot of shirt going on in his head.

Yeah, like "how many more times are Vlad and Bibi going to blackmail me? "

Looks like NATO Chief Rutte got the message lol ( Flattery gets you EVERYTHING with Trump ) This text Trump posted from Rutte is slathered with it.

Some are like "WTF" and others, who know, are like " oh yeah he done figured it out" LOLOL

We really really need a vomit icon for posts. That was demeaning and sickening, and sounds like something that would happen in North Korea.

I don’t care if that was meant to be private, that was a disgusting display of sycophancy. You never ever treat someone with Trump’s mental disorders in that way - he will use it to his advantage and he won’t respect you for groveling, quite the opposite. NATO needs to replace Rutte ASAP, IMO.

People with Trump’s mental problems demand groveling but have only contempt for those who actually do so. Rutte needs to go.

The same story in the danish press

There, NATO’s Secretary General, Mark Rutte, said that all member countries have agreed in advance to aim for spending 5 percent of their gross domestic product (GDP) on defense—up from just 2 percent today. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen emphasizes that it's not entirely accurate to speak of a blanket 5 percent. In fact, the 3.5 percent is intended for the core, traditional military expenses such as tanks, missiles, and defense systems—while the remaining 1.5 percent is earmarked for broader and more loosely defined areas of security like cybersecurity, emergency preparedness, and infrastructure investments. "This is not about whether Donald Trump is angry. It's about maintaining a strong transatlantic relationship," he says. "We need to raise our level of ambition — and not because of Donald Trump. We need to do it, first and foremost, because of Putin (the Russian president, ed.), who poses a real threat to us."

If you ask Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (Social Democrats), it's not even certain that 5 percent [of GDP on defense] will be enough. "Are we sure that's enough? No, of course we're not — and we must do whatever is necessary," says the Prime Minister.

This increase was essentially agreed upon in principle last fall, but as usual, Trump is trying to take credit for something others initiated. The truth is, Europe no longer trusts either Putin’s Russia or Trump’s version of the United States.

The US spends less than 3 and a half percent of its GDP on defense.

As more analysis takes place, it becomes apparent that little damage was done to Iran’s nuclear program.

If that text is legitimate and not faked, then I agree that Rutte's time with NATO needs to end.

That's very good for Europe. It's going to be a difficult pill to swallow for a lot of Americans when our status in the world and the privilege that came with it decreases.
