Thought we should start thread here - over weekend, US carried out strikes against Houthi elements in Yemen in retaliation for their actions in Red Sea.

This morning Trump took to Truth Social:



So any missile/shot fired from Houthi elements in Yemen will be considered coming from Iran. Obviously this is wrought with problems, but we know Houthis will respond and continue attacks.

So then what does this mean for Iran? Lots to unpack, but seems to me that the NO WAR POTUS is hell bent on getting into yet ANOTHER conflict in the ME. He is backing himself into a corner with statements and we could find ourselves embroiled in ME conflict again.

Good friends of ours...she called me wife just a few hours ago. Her son, US Army, is coming home Thursday.

He was supposed to go to California for additional training ( he is in intelligence) but was just told today, that isn't happening and now he gets to go home "til called".

They are freaked out and paranoid he will be getting orders to deploy to ME.

Similar to me in 1990 with GW1. We were given leave and told once mobilized, you will be called and report to base.

Not sure if Army protocol still same, since that's 36 years ago, but they are unnerved. I tried to say "things are probably different today than 1990" but I dont think it helped much. But I did say he is intelligence, so he wouldnt be part of "boots on ground". But again, not much comfort.

He is 20.

MT15 initially pointed out Trump's remarks about landing in Spain anyhow ignored Spain's sovereignty. TampaJoe then claimed Trump was just using standard business tactics and deflected the discussion away from the fact that Trump's statement was in fact disrespectful of Spain's sovereignty.

I wasn't invalidating what you said. I was simply bringing the conversation back to focusing on the initial point that was raised which TampaJoe is deflecting people away from.

If this is true, this tells me 2 things about this engagement: First, it was a BVR engagement and secondly, they likely had no idea that they had been fired upon until they were hit! I also find it intriguing that the one video showing the 1 Strike Eagle
going down had a shot of only one chute!

On a macro level, a friendly fire accident like this could've been prevented had this had been done the right way! Had these idiots went through The UN and built a coalition, normal ATO's would have been shared with our allies and they wouldn't be shooting at us, they would've been shooting with us.

I disagree that it's not important. I think the president of the US saying he can us an airfield in a an ally's country without their permission is a big deal. If it were any other president besides Trump, I think most people would see it as important and making a bigger deal out of it.

Those same Kurdish groups are near Turkey's border as well and have been fighting with Turkey for a long time. Any weapons they get are just as likely to be turned on the Turks as the Iranians.

I kinda don't blame them. Turkey has a long history of being butt crevasses towards them, and others (enacted a genocide campaign against Armenians etc)

I agree completely. The Turks have treated the Kurds, Armenians, and others very badly and I think most Kurds have a bigger axe to grind with the Turks, than they do with the Iranians.

I agree. If George W Bush had said he couldn't be stopped from using an allies air base against their wishes, I believe without a doubt there would have been a huge uproar. Trump says it and crickets.
