Thought we should start thread here - over weekend, US carried out strikes against Houthi elements in Yemen in retaliation for their actions in Red Sea.

This morning Trump took to Truth Social:



So any missile/shot fired from Houthi elements in Yemen will be considered coming from Iran. Obviously this is wrought with problems, but we know Houthis will respond and continue attacks.

So then what does this mean for Iran? Lots to unpack, but seems to me that the NO WAR POTUS is hell bent on getting into yet ANOTHER conflict in the ME. He is backing himself into a corner with statements and we could find ourselves embroiled in ME conflict again.

It's just so surreal how he is feverishly telling the citizens of Iran to overthrow their tyrannical government.

The Democrats in the US are rightly accused of failing to be the populist party for disenfranchised MAGA complicated by the fact that many of these white, white privaledge types don’t really believe in equal opportunity, level playing fields when they perceive it is provided at their expense, when citizens of color/minorities/foreigners (in many cases better educated than they are) being given opportunity they were prevented from having earlier, or even human beings of “the lesser races” (as they see it) being treated humanly. Once they perceived losing this privaledge at the bottom tiers then they were easy pickings for racist based enragement orchestrated by a guy, I hate to call him a master con-man, because he’s so inept, bumbling, and obvious, so I’ll call him a very skilled race baiter. He knows how to turn these people on using racist based grievances, promising to make them great… again. Suckers!

That's just it. It is SO obvious. Trump doesn't do anything deep or sneaky...he is like a bull in a china shop except the owner of the shop welcomes him in because they both hate gay people.

As they think this might stop war criminals from attacking them? More likely this is a symbolic gesture, willing to sacrifice themselves to make a statement… not said critically.

I think that is just it. If they are murdered, they will be making it a statement to the world. Civilians standing together against assured death. Infinitely more patriotic than the terrorists in the White House:

I wouldn't go that far... because there is a good portion of the population who completely bought into the fanatical zealotry to the regime.

I saw this online - so purely speculation.. but also wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this was just a bit of a not so subtle cover for spilling ground troops into Iran.

So Trump could say he was just so merciful that instead of evaporating the country with a nuke, he started infiltrating it with thousands of troops.

where? on the lowlands of the Persian Gulf? To sit there and get targeted repeatedly by drones/surface to surface munitions?

Iran is probably wanting this to happen and setting the table for it. See Afghanistan. We dont have enough of ANYTHING to do anything meaningful on Iranian soil.

Not to mention the years it would take to occupy any portion of Iran.

They're not prepared for that. They're not prepared for anything. Trump is much more likely to go the nuke route if he is allowed by those around him who have control of the nukes.

Where is Congress? I don't think there would be enough support in Congress (Republicans included) for ground troops or even his threat to bomb infrastructure/bridges. I think if he crosses the line and holds true to his threats, that will be only the first domino to fall. This could spiral quickly out of control.
