Thought we should start thread here - over weekend, US carried out strikes against Houthi elements in Yemen in retaliation for their actions in Red Sea.

This morning Trump took to Truth Social:



So any missile/shot fired from Houthi elements in Yemen will be considered coming from Iran. Obviously this is wrought with problems, but we know Houthis will respond and continue attacks.

So then what does this mean for Iran? Lots to unpack, but seems to me that the NO WAR POTUS is hell bent on getting into yet ANOTHER conflict in the ME. He is backing himself into a corner with statements and we could find ourselves embroiled in ME conflict again.

I think they eventually help out. It's still in their interest to ensure the free flow of oil. As I noted earlier, if I were them I'd try to extract some concession out of Trump first - and as others here have noted, they'd have to think carefully about how to craft a deal so Trump doesn't back out later

What the allies do is in THEIR BEST interests, not Trump. ( and Trump said as much ) and God forbid a ship gets sunk and a country loses a bunch of sailors - all because we have a CiC that knocked a hornets nest off the branch, into a room full of people and said "yall deal with that"

He, and by extension we, just kicked off an energy crisis and looming food crisis at a minimum that will greatly affect our erstwhile allies. While they have an incentive to help themselves, they know who did this to them, and if anything, they would punish him and us if given an opportunity.

That was a clever designed statement because in reality it can be seen as targeting US and Israels attacks as well. Resolution 2817 which they refer to was originally voted on after the start of the war in Ukraine. The wording of the resolution does not mention Iran in particular but covers all parties in the conflict not only Iran. It condemn all attacks on vital infrastructure - and that would include attacks by Israel and US as well.

um...is that a nuclear plant in the picture?

I remember reading an article awhile back that said modern nuclear plants were designed
to withstand a direct hit from a 747. The article also stated core meltdowns were almost impossible.
There have been many advances over older plants like Chernobyl and 3 mile island. I can't explain
how. The science is way over my head,so i'll have to defer. Here is a wiki write up on the potential
