The football board had the very useful Daily Trump Tracker thread, which was a good place to briefly discuss the latest ridiculous thing that might have ended 97% of prior Presidential administrations even if it didn't necessarily justify an entire thread devoted to it in 2017-2019 (because of the sheer volume of these things). Since I don't see anything like that here already, I'll add one myself.

History will not be kind to Trump, his administration, his congress or his supporters

    ====================================
As President Donald Trump's days in the White House are increasingly numbered, the conversation has begun to turn to one of legacy: How will history remember Trump's four years in office?

The early returns, as you might guess, are deeply divided.

A total of 48% in a Fox News poll released over the weekend rated Trump as somewhere between "average" and "one of the country's greatest presidents."

A very similar 50% said that Trump will down in history as somewhere between "below average" and "one of the country's worst presidents."............

And yet, despite all of that, more than 1 in 5 of our fellow Americans believe that Trump will be remembered as on of the country's greatest presidents.

So, who are these people? A look into the guts of the Fox News poll gives us some clues:

    * 29% of white men believe Trump will go down as one of the country's greatest presidents.

    * 49% of 2020 Trump voters say the same as do 44% of self-identified Republicans.

    * 36% of white evangelicals think Trump will be rated as one of the best presidents.

These numbers, of course, gibe broadly speaking with the core of Trump's core base. And are yet more evidence that Trump's command over his base is more powerful than any GOP politician we have seen in a very long time. They don't just think he deserves a second term; they think Trump is a historically great president.................

Barr is lying his way out, exactly how he lied his way in. What a dirt bag.

And, what is with the bizarre desire to return firing squads as a form of federal execution? And the ghoulish race to suddenly execute as many people as possible in the lame duck period?

Did Barr say he wants to execute people or are you referring to someone else?

(CNN)The Justice Department has rushed to change the rules around federal death penalties as they expedite a slew of scheduled executions in the final days of the Trump administration, including expanding possible execution methods to include electrocution and death by firing squad.
The approved amendment to the "Manner of Federal Executions" rule gives federal prosecutors a wider variety of options for execution in order to avoid delays if the state in which the inmate was sentenced doesn't provide other alternatives.

The rule was included among three dozen policy changes President Donald Trump is attempting to push through before the end of his term. The proposed changes were first reported by ProPublica.
Attorney General William Barr and the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs pushed the rule forward. Once the approved amendment is published in the Federal Register -- which a Justice Department official had said could have come as early as Friday -- it will become effective in 30 days.

I don't see anything saying Barr saying that though. Not saying he didn't say it, DOJ policy changes are unusual at the end of any given President's administration. Although tweaking death penalty methods is one I never really gave much thought to.

    Thanks for the source tho.

Dave, when the DOJ pushes for multiple executions in a very short time frame and pushes for adding new means of executions, I think it’s fair to associate it with Barr. I didn’t refer to any particular quote of his, though, and there’s a better than even chance, IMO, that these actions come from Trump.

I don't think anyone says he said those things and actually it doesn't matter if he did, Barr is AG and the DoJ is implementing these plans.
