WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House on Tuesday began offering buyouts worth seven months of salary to all federal employees who opt to leave their jobs by Feb. 6 — part of President Donald Trump’s unprecedented overhaul of the U.S. government.

A memo from the Office of Personnel Management, the government’s human resources agency, lists four directives that it says Trump is mandating for the federal workforce, including that most workers return to their offices full-time.

It includes a “deferred resignation letter” for federal employees wishing to participate.

“If you choose not to continue in your current role in the federal workforce, we thank you for your service to your country and you will be provided with a dignified, fair departure from the federal government utilizing a deferred resignation program,” the email reads. “This program begins effective January 28 and is available to all federal employees until February 6.”

It adds, “If you resign under this program, you will retain all pay and benefits regardless of your daily workload and will be exempted from all applicable in-person work requirements until September 30.”………

So quit and get 7 months pay or potentially get fired and get nothing

People who dedicated years or decades to public service through thick and thin, served during administrations of both parties, served during those they liked and those they didn’t have one week to make a life changing decision

And the article states that the administration expects up to ten percent of the workforce to accept this offer (which is a shirt ton of people) but what if 30% take it? 40%?

Pretty sure the government couldn’t handle that many people leaving

In what could result in an unprecedented purge of the federal workforce, the Trump administration is offering a seven-month buyout to employees if they announce they’re quitting by next Thursday.

The White House’s Office of Personnel Management sent an email blast to federal government workers asking them to reply to an email if they want to take the offer, which will only be available until February 6. If they give up their jobs they’ll be paid until September 30.

The email states that a new federal workforce will be built around four pillars: Return to Office, performance culture, more streamlined and flexible workforce, and enhanced standards of conduct.

“If you choose to remain in your current position, we thank you for your renewed focus on serving the American people to the best of your abilities and look forward to working together as part of an improved federal workforce,” the email states.

There was no continuing job reassurance for those who choose to stay.

“At this time, we cannot give you full assurance regarding the certainty of your position or agency, but should your position be eliminated you will be treated with dignity and will be afforded,” the message noted.

Federal workers can opt out of their current positions through what the office calls a “deferred resignation program.” The program begins January 28 and will run until next week……….

Employees at multiple federal agencies were ordered to remove pronouns from their email signatures by Friday afternoon, according to internal memos obtained by ABC News that cited two executive orders signed by President Donald Trump on his first day in office seeking to curb diversity and equity programs in the federal government.

"Pronouns and any other information not permitted in the policy must be removed from CDC/ATSDR employee signatures by 5.p.m. ET on Friday," according to one such message sent Friday morning to CDC staff.

Federal employees with the Department of Transportation received a similar directive on Thursday, the same day the department was managing the fallout from the D.C. plane crash near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Since there was never a policy requiring pronouns in email signatures there’s nothing to overturn

Gender identity aside I’m sure it was helpful for people who have names where the gender isn’t obvious like an ethnic name or Lindsey Graham

Why would I need to indicate in an email that Lindsey is, in fact, a man, to begin with?

While I was working, I received hundreds of emails a week, from many different parts of the world, many from people with names I never heard of and couldn't even pronounce, none of them indicating what the sender was... and yet, I never sat there wondering what they were... to me, they were simply fellow engineers/co-workers, or customers, or management, who had an issue that I had to solve.

Do you sit there wondering what people who sent you an email are? That's weird.
