    I don’t think this fits into any current thread - it’s not an appointment or anything. Maybe a thread to keep track of his proposals and whether they are implemented?

    ...the actual noun? What noun would you be using in place of the proper noun Lindsey Graham in an email signature to indicate that Lindsey is, in fact, a man? Something like this, maybe?

    Lindsey Graham
    Man
    U.S. Senate

    Pretty sure that's what he says to himself in the mirror every morning.

    Trump’s tax cuts need to be discussed. He’s promising no taxes on tips, overtime and Social Security payments. He is also committed to about $4 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

    So the GOP is discussing adding taxes on employer provided perks, like use of a company car or other transportation, food provided by the employer for free to employees, and perks like company gyms. These would all be treated as income for the employee and taxed as such. Even so, that will only be a drop in the bucket of trying to replace all the tax revenue he is getting rid of.

    They're going to bankrupt everyone and buy everything for pennies on the dollar.

    This might not be a bad thing

    I remember this being talked about going back at least to the early 90s
    ================

    (CNN) — President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he has instructed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to halt the production of pennies, citing the high cost of producing one cent.

    “For far too long the United States has minted pennies which literally cost us more than 2 cents. This is so wasteful! I have instructed my Secretary of the US Treasury to stop producing new pennies. Let’s rip the waste out of our great nations budget, even if it’s a penny at a time,” Trump said in a post to social media as he returned to Washington from the Super Bowl.

    The penny has been under fire for years, with the movement to eliminate the penny picking up steam last month after Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency posted on X calling attention to the high cost of producing the single-cent coin.

    Last year a New York Times Magazine story argued for abolishing the coin. “The necessity of abolishing the penny has been obvious to those in power for so long that the inability to accomplish it has transformed the coin into a symbol of deeper rot,” the piece noted.

    CNN has reported the US Mint in 2023 reported it circulated around 4.1 billion pennies. In fiscal year 2024, the US Mint said in its annual report that the US penny costs about 3.7 cents to produce and distribute, up more than 20% from the previous year. The rising cost of metals, including zinc and copper, is part of the reason it’s getting more expensive to make the coin……..

    This is the only thing he's done so far that I don't have a negative reaction to, lol.

    I guess kudos for the workaround and a way to have it both ways

    The people who hated the name change can gloat that it's back to Fort Bragg (and probably think it's the same confederate Bragg)

    If there is any flak for that they can say "Oh no, not that Bragg, a different one"
    ======================================

    The base’s original namesake, Gen. Braxton Bragg, was a Confederate general from Warrenton, North Carolina, who was known for owning slaves and losing key Civil War battles, contributing to the Confederacy’s downfall.

    But the Pentagon spokesman said Hegseth was renaming the base to honor a different Bragg, Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, who he said was a World War II hero who earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his exceptional courage during the Battle of the Bulge.

    “This change underscores the installation’s legacy of recognizing those who have demonstrated extraordinary service and sacrifice for the nation,” spokesman John Ullyot said in a statement.

    The choice of the World War II private first class got around a law prohibiting the military from naming a base after a Confederate leader..............

    All the coverage on this will be "You can call it Fort Bragg again!" "Bye Bye Woke Fort Liberty! Bragg returns!"

    The WW2 part gets buried in the fine print (if it's mentioned at all)

    I can't even tell if this "change" is cowardly, cynical or genius
