I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

From CNN. Waiting on the House

These 7 senators voted to sustain the objection against Pennsylvania's electoral votes
An objection to certify Pennsylvania's electoral votes failed in the Senate tonight, with a 92-7 vote.
Here are the seven Republican senators who voted to sustain the objection:
    • Texas Sen. Ted Cruz
    • Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley
    • Wyoming Sen. Cynthia Lummis
    • Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall
    • Florida Sen. Rick Scott
    • Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville
    • Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith

I thought Graham's remarks were even better than Romney's (although if you take the past 4 years into consideration Romney deserves WAAAY more admiration), but it felt like Graham already had two martinis and zero f***s to give.
Graham was clearly intoxicated. He just sort of rambled on for five minutes.

Are they resigning because they don't want to be a part of the administration, or because they don't want to be on record as for, or against, using the 25th amendment against Trump?

    Probably this:

As the violent mob incited by President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, some West Wing staffers panicked that they were possibly becoming participants in a coup to overthrow the government. “What do I do? Resign?” one nervous White House staffer asked a friend on Wednesday afternoon, shortly after news broke that a woman had been shot and killed inside the Capitol. The West Wing staffer told the friend that White House Counsel Pat Cipollone was urging White House officials not to speak to Trump or enable his coup attempt in any way, so they could reduce the chance they could be prosecuted for treason under the Sedition Act.

Holy shirt. They're about to fight in the House. They had to clear a R out from going after Connor Lamb.

The lack of contrition, and empathy is expected. I think at least half of the GOP in congress are psychopaths.

I hope it sets in after tonight there is no working with the GOP. I thought Biden was insane to even suggest it.
