I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

    They got scared straight.

Nah...this ain't the Christmas Carol, the 12 members of the Senate Sedition Caucus need to pay a personal and political price for what happened today. Along w/ the 130+ members of the House that backed this garbage "irregularities" narrative.

You don't get to seed this crap and then hide your hands after stuff got real, there needs to be investigations, hearings, dismissals, trials, sentencings and you get the rest. In order to prevent this from ever happening again, you need to make damn sure that this act from today goes punished exactly how it should be. If someone would've shouted " Allahu Akbar" during today's events we'd be invading Iran right now.

You can’t call up the devil and ask him to behave

This devil has been lurking for a long time

You can debate whether this started brewing 5 years ago when Trump rode down the escalator or

12 years ago when Obama was elected, or 25 years ago with Newt Gingrich or 50 years ago with Nixon and the Southern strategy

Things have been moving towards this for a long while.

I will say I’m surprised that today didn’t devolve into an all out riot

I’m worried about a repeat of today on Election Day

This has been a sad dark day

    Won't.

If I can do anyhting from Covington to help unseat Kennedy, I will.

I was fully prepared to do so for any opponent of Scalise.

In the last few months I have been quite impressed with my R congressman, Garrett Graves. He didn't sign on to the stupid lawsuit and I'm guessing he will be voting against the objections.

The syncophants have been coming after him.

House currently voting on the objection. Joint session should probably start back up in the next half hour.
