I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Trump still thinks that Pence should have done something that everyone agrees he didn’t have the power to do and would have created a full blown constitutional crisis and a coup.

    Trump being Trump, lol.

That's the wildest part to me.

He orchestrated a coup. His lawyers have been sanctioned, disbarred, and even charged with crime. His Vice President refused to perform the unlawful acts to further the coup, thankfully. His followers literally attempted to disrupt the proceeding - after being goaded to do it by Trump.

Yet, he's wholly, 100% unaccountable. He still insists on it. He still criticizes those who failed his coup and those who upheld the law - and want to investigate it. And where he has been charged with breaking the law, he asserts immunity - and has cadres of henchpeople to parrot his position that he shouldn't be charged because it's all a political witch hunt . . . and millions of Americans who will vote for him again.

He lost an election and tried a coup! And we're wholly incapable of addressing it because it is unprecedented and he has enough political support to avoid penalty.

But the fact remains that Donald Trump lost an election and attempted a coup on American soil. And we all saw it before our very eyes. Yet, not only is he unaccountable, he's continuing to assert the same legally fraudulent position in the hope of obtaining the presidency again.

And the Republican Party has shugged off any responsibility as well, because if Ole Donald can do it, well, guess they can too. The Republican Party is completely lost.

SCOTUS is needlessly delaying his Jan 6 trial and I shudder to think what sort of crazy decision about immunity they are cooking up with their delaying tactics. 2 of them should recuse themselves, ideally, definitely Alito should recuse himself. But they won’t. Gorsuch was quoted as saying they need to make a “decision for the ages”. No, that’s judicial overreach. They need to decide the case before them, which was already very ably decided by the lower court with no need for them to weigh in further.

Cannon is mucking up the documents case - which should have already been over by now. It’s hard to imagine any other defendant being given this sort of deference from the bench. And there is evidently no remedy for her incompetence (if that’s what it is).

Right now there are multiple live streams of these clowns trying to sneak an Ashli Babbit stone into Arlington National Cemetery.

    I won't link them.

This is ongoing because we don't hang traitors anymore.

WASHINGTON — Michael Fanone, a former police officer who was nearly killed by a mob during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, spoke outside the courthouse during closing arguments in Donald Trump's hush money trial on Tuesday, calling Trump "an authoritarian" with "a violence fetish."

Hours later, Fanone's mother was "swatted" at her home in Virginia.

On Tuesday, a fake "manifesto" attributed to Fanone was sent to a number of email addresses, including some associated with a high school that Fanone attended for a year more than two decades ago.

The "manifesto," viewed by NBC News, claimed that the writer had killed their mother and planned to go to the recipient's school on Wednesday and shoot more people. It provided Fanone's mother's home address.

That night, Fanone told NBC News, his mother opened the door to law enforcement while in her nightgown, "mortified" to find SWAT team officers at her home.

"How dangerous is it to send law enforcement to an address in which you essentially are describing an active shooter, in which the only person present is a 78-year-old f---ing woman," Fanone told NBC News.

"This is the reality of going up against or challenging Donald Trump. ... These swatting calls are incredibly f---ing dangerous, especially when the target is somebody like my mom."……..

I hope those monsters get what's coming to them. Fork em all.

The FBI has arrested a South Dakota man on charges that he stood among the first participants in the January 6 insurrection, allegedly breaking police lines and ramming a large sign toward officers during the riot.

William Knight, 37, of Rapid City, faces two felony charges of obstructing law enforcement and resisting or impeding officers, the justice department announced on Thursday. He also faces five misdemeanor charges, including engaging in violence on the day supporters of Donald Trump tried to derail certification of his defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

He was arrested by the FBI on Sunday and was expected to make his first appearance in court on Thursday.

Knight was featured prominently in several videos that were taken during the riot, helping the FBI build its case against him. Investigators were able to match Knight’s appearance in his videos to his state driver’s license, which prominently shows tattoos on his neck.

Prosecutors accuse Knight of being one of the first rioters to breach a restricted perimeter at the Capitol on January 6. Multiple times, he gestured aggressively and threateningly toward officers. He broke police lines and was sprayed with a chemical spray at one point, but he kept pursuing officers, prosecutors say.……
