I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

To be fair, Guard sleeping on floors while deployed is hardly new.

For Katrina, the Guard, Canadians, and others who came, actually used Michoud (the NASA site) as their base of operations, since it was a large government property that was basically and island (our ride our crew kept the pumps running and kept it from flooding).

When I was finally allowed back on site, about 6 weeks after the storm, we still had a contingent of the Guard and Army Corps of Engineers stationed on site. They took over an event room as a make shift barracks. The 'night shift' who was sleeping when we walked to lunch, was sleeping on the floor.

You take what you need on mission. Comfort isn't a need.

    To be fair?

The issue is not the Guard sleeping on floors... it is that the floors are inside the U.S. Capitol, and they are there to protect it from domestic terrorists.

Well, since the 6th happened, they should be there. It's certainly not normal and nobody wants them there, but it's necessary. Not really unexpected considering what's all transpired.

    Maybe it is my English.

So the problem the tweet highlights is not that the Guard has to sleep on the floor, or that it is not unexpected that they sleeping on the floor of the U.S. Capitol given what transpired on the 6th...

The problem the tweet highlights is that the Guard has to defend the U.S. Capitol from domestic terrorists to begin with.

A little off topic, but it fits perfect to the Trumpsters IQ. My CoWorker told me Obama was arrested today because of the information he hid during 9/11. I really wish a was making this up, but I'm not,,,
That's like the fourth time he's been arrested in the last 4 years, maybe this time he won't escape to Epstein's island.

It's definitely a problem, but there's not really any other way to deal with it, right? I dunno, I guess the tweet is sort of stating the obvious.

Not sure if this has been posted yet... but her Twitter account has been locked until after the inauguration...

    I know that.

2 things. It was an opportunity for me to share a story. Also, a number of the replies to that tweet were discussing things like no field beds, a lack of pads, etc. So there are people more stunned by them sleeping on the floor than the fact of what floor they're on. If the guy shared pictures of the guard standing all around the Capitol, I'm not sure it would have the same impact.

I was like, you do realize he wasn't president until like 7 years later. She quickly changed the subject about George Soros being arrested. I just kinda slowly walked away at that point..lol I have no doubt she was getting her info from shared Facebook posts..
