What he represents is bad for this country, destruction of voter rights of democrats. 300 bills across this country to take away votes of democrats, just more of the same anti American attacks on this country. We need to dump the filibuster and pass the bills that got Biden elected and we need a voter rights bill that stop's the rights destruction of voter rights in this country. His main position is being head of Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee , tell him they he will lose that position and that democrats will go after coal production like it is the plague. He will give in and his crap will come to a end. Screw him he is bad for this country, claiming to be a democrat doesn't make it ,when we have issues like this that have to be responded to.

Joe Manchin is far from the only democrat who doesn’t want to scrap the filibuster. If he changed his mind tomorrow it still wouldn’t be abolished.

The John Lewis Act is the better bill of the two voter rights bills.

Have some patience and see how this plays out would be my advice.

I get your frustration with the guy, but Manchin is doing exactly what he was elected to do, be a thorn in the side to the democratic agenda. He will occasionally go along with Dems on legislation like he did on the Covid relief bill, but he's mostly there to force watered-downed compromise legislation between the parties. That's what he was elected to do from a state with an overwhelming Republican voter base that he only won by 3%.

The only way to get around Manchin is to get more Dem Senators elected. Going after Manchin and coal in the way you describe will only cause Manchin to switch parties (which will give control of the Senate agenda to McConnel) and cause the Dems to lose even more seats in the next election as the American electorate backlashes.

The filibuster is ant democracy it should go , you pick whats important and play hardball with your people who don't support the party position.

It's the issues that he is standing against. The hate party has to go and he is standing in the way. Take away the laws that take away votes of Americans and they are done, if that doesn't pop the bubble , make it a law everyone has to vote. Both of them more American and pro democracy then the 300 right wing laws that they are trying to put into effect to take away votes of American.

Good thing our government is set up as true democracy.
If the dems get rid of the buster it will come back to bite them.

If they had enough votes to get rid of the filibuster they wouldn't need to get rid of it.
This is true that getting rid of the filibuster would come back to bite democrats, because democrats could pass voting rights legislation, and then the next time Republicans gain control of the Senate and presidency, they can repeal the law with 50 votes. The filibuster should only apply to unpopular legislation. If the House can pass a bill with a supermajority, the Senate should be legally bound to vote on it. The voting rights act that passed the House is probably a good law, but it is too expansive.

I think Democrats should pass small pieces of legislation that could be easily defended. Slow and easy wins the race. Chip away at the apple until we've eaten the apple.

Yea, doing something is the way to beat the Republicans, because their only goal is doing nothing.

Every time something gets done, the Republicans loose, and eventually they will get sick of losing and send Mitch McConnell out to pasture.

The only thing I want is for Democrats to pick up more seats in the Senate so that Manchin is an afterthought. Wasn't a fan of his before 2020. I'm even less of one now.

I think he’s going to run for president presenting himself as a poor people conservative moderate.

I think this is in the back of his mind every time he makes a decision.

Don't care at all , done right and by next election the hate party won't exist an any form that can survive.. The right knows it can't operate in a democracy anymore , hence 1/6 to install a piece of shirt for a dictator and 300 hate party bills around the country trying to take votes away from democrats.

a true democracy doesn't have a filibuster, we can destroy the hate party with just a couple of moves , destroy the filibuster, make it a law that everyone votes , take charge of all federal elections for house and senate , which is already in the constitution. and fill the supreme court, then set that number by law . Pick any two and the hate party is gone.

Sounds very authoritarian, but good luck with that.

You don't even have a voice , this crap coming from someone who supports bringing down our demacracy and country to force in a piece of shirt for a dictator.

I will regret this, but what is your proposed punishment if a citizen decides not to vote in an election?

100.00 first time, dropped entirely for a reasonable excuse of course. 2nd time and above the penalty will increase considerably but open to absolutely anything that protects the law requiring people to vote. This voting law alone rids us of the hate group the right calls a party and it is 1/100 as offensive as the 300 bills the right has put together across the nation to take away votes of Democrats. The right can no longer exist in a democracy so they will do anything at all to stay in power, that includes anything to take away the votes of Democrats and anyway at all to turn around election for any reason, of course that reason will be if Dems win. their attempt to bring down our country and democracy to force in a piece of shirt for a dictator. they are scum and have to be disposed of.
